Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition
Pokémon Yellow is similar to the Red and Blue versions of the game, but in this edition Professor Oak gives you Pikachu as your first Pokémon. This particular Pikachu doesn't like being cooped up in a Poké Ball, so you can actually see Pikachu as it follows your character on the screen.
You can look at Pikachu whenever you like, and its mood will change depending on how you've been treating it. Check out the Pika Page to learn how to keep your Pikachu happy. Other special features of Pokémon Yellow include:
.Pokémon are found in different areas than in the Red and Blue versions
.Jesse and James from Team Rocket appear throughout the game
.Special rewards for Trainers who keep their Pikachus happy
.Rival gym leaders use different Pokémon and new battle strategies
.Link two Pokémon Yellow cartridges for three new battle modes: Pika Cup,
Poké Cup, Petite Cup
Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition is a great way for new Pokémon Trainers to enter the Pokémon universe, and it gives experienced Trainers a new challenge in their quest to become the world's greatest Pokémon Trainer.

Keep Pikachu Happy
In Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition, every Trainer begins his or her quest to become the world's greatest Pokémon Trainer with Pikachu. Since Pikachu refuses to be carried around in a Poké Ball, you can watch it as it follows your character around the screen.
You can look at Pikachu any time you like to see how it's doing. Sometimes it will be happy, and occasionally it will be sad depending on how you treat it. You'll receive special rewards if your Pikachu is in a good mood, so it's important to treat it right.
Here are some tips you can follow to make sure that your Pikachu is a happy Pikachu:
.Heal Pikachu immediately if it is damaged by a long-lasting special attack such as Burn or Poison
.Keep Pikachu in your active line-up
.Allow Pikachu to fight first in every battle
.Pikachu gets happier as it gains experience
Hang six, Pikachu!
Below Fuchsia City there is a small shack where a man named Dude lives. Dude will ask you if you want to surf, but only if you have a special Pokémon called Surfing Pikachu.
This ultra-rare Pokémon is similar to Mew, in that the only way to get it is to have it put on your Game Pak by an official Nintendo representative. If you're lucky enough to get it, you can take Pikachu surfing near Dude's shack. Surfing Pikachu can perform all kinds of tricks on the waves, and it's the only Pikachu that can use Water-type attacks.
