The new pokemon game, with 250 pokemon, some of them are nocturnal pokemon so you will have two groups of Pokemon one of day and one of night, the new game will have the oldest pokemon and many new pokemon.
Features:
.New creatures including Hoo-Hoo, Napil, Rediba, and Elekid.
.New items including the Pokegear
.Real-time RPG using internal clock.
.Game Boy Printer support.
.For Game Boy and Game Boy Color.
.New hidden and tecnical machines.
.Backpack - Your Backpack is divided into 4 different pockets separating your Pokéballs, Pokémon healing items, TMs & HMs, and more.
.Pokégear - Uses 'cards' to display information throughout the game. You start out with a Map, Watch, Cell Phone, and Radio.
.Types - Two new types, "Evil" and "Steel"
.Evolutions - Pokémon from Red/Blue/Yellow (RBY) that have thought to stop evolution may evolve into something new. For example, Chansey evolves into Hapinasu. Also some Pokémon fromRBY have pre-evolutions, like Pikachu and Jigglypuff.
.Pokédex - The Pokédex has changed slightly, it is now black like the Pinball Pokédex, with Pokémon Area, Cry, and Print options.
.Stat Screens - When you view your Pokémon's stats you will get to look at three screens instead of two like in RBY. The first screen has your Pokémon's HP and EXP Points needed to gain a level. The second screen has your Pokémon's Attacks and Abilities and how much PP each one has. The third screen has your Pokémon's ID No., original Trainer, and its Attack, Defense, Hit Points, Speed, and Special totals.
.Rival - Your Rival is even more evil than Gary ever was. Your Rival steals one of Professor Utsugi's remaining two Pokémon. You'll see him later in the game.
.Eternal Clock - At the beginning, when you first start your game you have to set the clock according to what time it is in Real Life. Now when it is day-time in Real Life it will be day-time in your Game. So what? Well only certain Pokémon will appear during the day, and during the night. So you'll have to play your game during the day and during the night.
.New Towns - You start in Wakaba Town. All of the Gold & Silver towns are located West of the original RBY towns, which you can explore later in the game after beating it.
.New Gym Leaders - The first Gym Leader you encounter is a bird trainer. His name is Hayato. The following Leaders are: Tsukushi, Akane, Matsuba, Shijima, Mikan, Yanagi and Ibuki.
.Trading - You can trade all your favorite RBY Pokémon to Gold or Silver but you cannot trade Pokémon from Gold or Silver to RBY.
.Eggs - You can take your Pokemon to a Breeding and Daycare center south of Kogene City. If you put in a male and female Pokemon of the same type and walk around for a bit, when you return and see the Owner of the center outside with the Pokemon it means they laid an egg.
.Pokémon Gold/Silver is not just a tweaked version of Pokémon Red and Blue with new creatures there are new features to this adventure. All Pokémon in the game will be assigned a gender, either male or female. When you breed a male and female Pokémon, it will net an egg -- which Pokémon you've bred will affect how the Pokémon grows, as well as what abilities and attacks it will have as it gains experience in battle. Pokémon can also utilize weapons and items that you've acquired during the adventure.
Along with the Pokedex, the main character will have a new item called the Pokegear -- a device that combines the function of a counter, data organizer, cellular phone and radio together into one unit. With the Pokegear, you'll be able to record the phone number of different characters and communicate with them anywhere in the world, or use the radio function to listen to the special Pokémon lectures from the Professor Oak. You can also change the music during the adventure with the Pokegear.
One of the coolest features, though, is the fact that the game will be real-time. At the beginning of the game, you'll set the internal clock, and as you play the game, the day will turn to night and night into day at the appropriate times. The game will also have real-time events based on the battery-backed clock meaning you'll have to complete the event before the specified time.
Like Pokémon Red and Blue, Pokémon Gold and Silver will restrict which Pokémon you can capture Pokémon Gold will have creatures that you cannot capture in Pokémon Silver, and vice versa. The only way you'll catch them all is if you trade between the two versions. You can also trade with players with Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow, but those gamers cannot trade for the newer creatures in Pokémon Gold and Silver.
Sadly, Pokémon Gold and Silver won't be released in the US until September 2000, but in Japan you'll be able to get your hands on them in November '99.
