| Blue Stinger is a fine adventure game that due to it's brightness content and cheery characters, could never be truly defined as part of the "survival horror" genre set forth by Resident Evil, Parasite Eve, Dino Crisis and Silent Hill. Aside from the terrifying 3D camera, there isn't much in Blue Stinger that will actually scare or disturb you. That's not to say BS isn't a fun game; it definitely succeeds in the entertaining department. However, as good as Blue Stinger is there are just a few things about the game that are lacking or downright terrible. The camera is one of the worst I've ever come across. It will constantly put you in peril while making you motion sick all at once due to it's bouncing from side to side. The regenerating monsters are annoying, albeit necessary as you need to collect money from them once they are defeated. The concept behind buying weapons, ammo and health out of the various vending machines is a good one; I just wish there was more ways to earn money other than fighting the same monsters all of the time. I also found the slow movement of Dogs to be quite irritating. Yes, we get that he's bigger than Eliot is, but does he have to move at a snail's pace? Switching characters, just to get from point A to point B faster, is not what I'd call, well thought-out gameplay. In the end, Blue Stinger will either delight you or frustrate you, depending on your state of mind. If you are in the mood for an adventure that is never very scary, relies heavily on the "find the card key" style of gameplay, features decent voice acting and cool weapons, but one of the worst game cameras to date, then you might want to spend some time with Blue Stinger. Be warned though; you have to get fairly far into the game, before things really start to pick up. Just wait until you see some of those big monsters later... Recommended but with extreme caution.
