Nadar "The Candidate"

CUIP files suit on FEC Back the effort to abolish "Commission On Presidential Debates."

"I want to pledge something to the people of this country. I want to say that this is the last election on the presidential level where this debate commission is going to monopolise access to tens of millions of American voters, a majority of whom stated in poll after poll want a four-way debate with crisp edges and punctuated arguments. They don't want to fall asleep before the TV set watching the drab debate the dreary. This is the last hurrah for the corrupt Al Gore/George W. Bush debate commission, and let them enjoy it because they are never going to be able to do it again". -Ralph Nader October 2000AD!

EDITOR'S THOUGHTS - Well Ralph they really did it. All they had to do was break our laws. Don't be defeated unless most Americans are included. This is just the beginning. Stand as One - Prevail as One!

THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX - Rotary participatory design is under and in scope for the fifth party by revolving in or out of pattern incorporating real presidential "debates and election" contests, for brief summery here, but allowing fifth (wheeled) party to participate in national presidential debates with the leading four, whether (future) two, three or four are still of consideration as main parties. The party postured fifth is a constant off/on contender but one foot in the pack of six or more parties and other in front with the four. The discussion goes as "precisely how the outside and peripheral parties rotary up for connection to the preliminary process of these points here on page. By Josh Levinson The Daily Campus - (link below line) We claim to allow the free flow of ideas in our society, and to a certain extent (in the freedom of press, protest and lifestyle) we do, but the simple fact remains: our political system prevents a truly democratic system from evolving.
There are currently 435 members of the House of Representatives. Two of them (less than 0.5 percent) are independent. There are also 100 members of the Senate, with only. one being independent.
Beyond the statistics lies another story. During the debacle that was the 2000 presidential election, Ralph Nader, the candidate from the Green Party, managed to acquire 2.74 percent of the overall popular vote. Many Gore supporters accused the Green Party voters of "throwing their votes away," and their accusations hold weight.
If the Green Party voters had gone Democratic instead (we can probably assume they wouldn't vote Republican with their liberal views), would Gore have won the Presidency? The answer is: probably yes.
Of course, if we lived in an actual democracy instead of a democratic republic, Gore would have won the election anyway. Instead of each vote counting the same, the votes in New York and California actually count more than the votes from Oregon. How is that a democracy?
We further choke the voice of the independents because of the slight issue of campaign money. Without being able to acquire at least 5 percent of the overall vote, presidential hopefuls aren't allowed to draw federal campaign funds for the next election.

It costs millions upon millions of dollars to make an impact in a presidential election. After 150 years of watching Independents throw their money away, why should third party candidates even bother? Unless you're a billionaire (Ross Perot, anyone?), you aren't going to have much of a chance competing against mainstay presidential hopefuls with their money being funneled directly from their representative parties.
So does this mean we shouldn't vote for whomever we truly want to be president? Should we simply accept that Ralph Nader, Pat Buchanan, Harry Browne and the rest of the independents have virtually no chance of winning the election? If we do accept this, does that mean we're simply throwing our votes away?
Yet this is a dangerous way of thinking. By accepting that we must vote for one of two "necessary evils," we crush the independent parties entirely.
Furthermore, we have the never-ending struggle between Democrats and Republicans. Politicians have become more concerned with being right than doing right. If a Democrat comes up with a great idea, do you think whether the Republicans are going to vote for it or veto is out of principality? And if a Republican does the same, what do you think the Democrats will do?
Essentially, the two-party system prevents broad changes because we are limited to two ways of thinking: Democrat and Republican. With the advent of the Internet and the "Information Age," finding out about presidential candidates has never been easier. You can go take a look at which provides a summary of the good (Libertarian, Green), the bad (Nazi, Prohibition) and the absurd (Pot, Pansexual Peace) political parties. CollegePublisher Network

Issues and Party Competition Under Alternative Electoral Systems

Jeffrey A. Karp and Susan A. Banducci University of Waikato, New Zealand

Proximity and directional spatial models yield different predictions for mass-elite linkages under alternative
electoral systems. Whereas the proximity or Downsian model predicts that parties are likely to adopt positions
that are closer to their voters, the alternative directional model predicts parties will adopt more extreme positions
in order to generate political support among an electorate that has diffuse policy interests (Macdonald and
Rabinowitz, 1989; Macdonald et al., 1991; Rabinowitz et al., 1991). Theoretical arguments lead us to expect that the
directional model is most applicable in plurality systems, while the proximity model is best for describing party
and voter behaviour in multiparty systems. While others have examined these models from a cross-national
perspective, we employ an alternative research design using candidate and mass opinion data from New Zealand,
where voters have experienced a change in the electoral system.

ORIGINAL DRAFT BY UNITED STATES PUBLISHER
My planning document is preparred for organizers in a multiparty system presently only a working campaign in the United States that is moving toward multinational economic cooperation for anyones use in sharing and formating their own word documents, as "proposed legislation" on same topics declaring "public rights and freedoms." I'm NOT entering politics nor am I running for office. I began net publishing with and will finish if possible "voicing platforms for common people." The need for a multiparty electorate college is not incompatable nor inconsistant with the need for greater awareness of a global rising of "secret government" and some terrorism. It is my concern in and for this word proposal to see a "central document" emerge as (co-initiators of the) "campaign reform" moves ahead for an Equal Campaign Rights Amendment and with some consideration of the highlights of this page and with discussions of the independent movement.

Party Institutionalization In New Democracies

Vicky Randall University of Essex and Lars Svåsand University of Bergen

The literature on democratisation emphasises the contribution of political parties, and in that context the
importance of party institutionalization. But this concept remains relatively unexplored. Our article first considers
the relationship between party institutionalization and party system institutionalization, pointing out that they are
not necessarily convergent. We then review the existing literature on party institutionalization, indicating
weaknesses and contradictions, before offering our own analytic model. In the final section we identify some of
the key considerations arising when this model is applied to the particular circumstances of democratic transition
in the Third World.

How Transnational Factors Influence the Success OF Ethnic, Religious and Regional Parties in 21 States

Livianna S. Tossutti University of Calgary, Canada

This article explores whether ethnic, religious and regional parties in 21 advanced capitalist democracies are more
likely to achieve political salience in systems which have been more exposed to the effects of globalization and
post-industrialization. Globalist-localist scholars have argued that the new localism - which encompasses the
post-war resurgence of decentralist political movements - is linked to intensified international interdependence
and changes in production and consumption modes. Using quasi-likelihood statistical methods, we find that
parties catering to particularist interests are more likely to participate in ruling coalitions to support minority
governments, or to serve as the official opposition in countries that have been relatively insulated from
transnational forces. While domestic economic conditions and a party's lifespan and programmatic orientation
also influence the probability for success, domestic institutional arrangements such as electoral systems and the
division of powers do not.

Mother Writes "Hi Randy",

I saw Larry King the other night with Phil Donahue. I have never been a
proponent of P.D., but listened because he was promoting Nader. I have
always been impressed by Ralph Nader for several reasons, not the least of
which, he is not influenced by the special interest groups, nor the Powers
That Be that drive the politicians. I'm listening to Nader as I did Ross
Perot, whom I voted for the last 2 elections. Our government is completely
paralyzed by politics and the media. Good for you for fighting for a good
cause, our freedom!

This is a Twenty Zeros special internet report. I'm Randy Frushour. This new Year/Decade/Century/Millennium is an unparalleled era with significant "beginnings and statehood" and in particulars with "U S political party moves" which cradle the activities of our present campaign reform motioning.
A WORD FROM THE PUBLISHER 2-27-2001
The expanded word document will be published in the proceeding months as for " implementing needed change" for an elections "backup support" and also as a safety net while set in place here for legislatings this date, hereafter as the "U S Multiparty Crusade" in concert with the "Independent Appeal". Legislation for campaign, debates and elections reform at present is skimmpy and a likelyhood as elections 2004 begin to surface will too begin the dialog of serious questioning as is today presented and in turn then by "larger and more" interest groups. This editor suggests so belief that such prior can lend and lead to "one solution" which is "U S Multiparty System and Campaigns. Your annotated comments are requested and can upon request remain private as published or be made public and known! On the page certain points "are just thoughts of my own" as I view our matter.
