We show ONLY categories on our Home Page--no individual sites. Categories will be ranked according to popularity. Sites compete against each other ONLY within their respective categories. Changing a site's category will cause ALL votes to be erased. Disabling a site's voting will cause ALL votes to be erased. Max Pages will re-categorize any mis-categorized site--causing that site to lose ALL votes.
A person is limited to one vote per site within a 24 hour period. Since we can't track people directly, we track their computers instead. We limit a machine to one vote per site within a 24 hour period.
Some people find ways around our system for the purpose of repeated voting. We regard this activity as cheating. We audit for cheaters daily and clear votes on sites detected cheating.
A site's rating will go to zero if there are equal votes FOR and AGAINST the site. A site's vote count will go to zero if we detect cheating on the site.
Cheating is done by masquerading a machine to appear as a new voter. Methods include getting new ISP sessions, tampering with cookies, and altering IP addresses so that more votes can be cast. Whenever we detect behavior of this sort we clear all votes for the offending site.
