Digimon Tamers is said to be the third season of Digimon: Digital Monsters. The settings of the third season revolve around three kids who play Digimon Battle Cards. The story takes place in another dimention, one that is apart from the two seasons before. Instead of taking place in Odaiba, the setting for Tamers is another area of Tokyo, West Shinjuku. As with the first two seasons, expect the buildings and locations to be based on real life places. Also, rumors said that none of the digidestined from season one or two will be making an appearance.
A new season also means new Digivice and accesories. Instead of using the old Digivice, or the D-3, our new friends are going to be using a D-Arc. These Digivices have slots in the top to insert cards, which help the Digimon to powerup. This card/Digivice system is called Card Slash.
Seki Hiromi's (producer of Tamers) feelings onTamers and why they went in a totally new direction
"The Digimon series is entering its third year, so to sort of close a chapter,we decided to subtly change the premise. With 'Tamers' we want to reallyemphasize the oneness between the Digimon and the children. The reason thereare fewer main children is so that the Digimon will be able to have a deeperinvolvement in the drama, and the Card Slash system was added so that not justthe Digimon, but the children, too, would be able to strategize and take part inthe battles. The purpose of the cards is to give the battles a more strategicfeel. The combination of a Digimon with a human partner is called a 'Tamer',but the aim of the series is to trace the path that leads Takato and the othersto the realization that they are Tamers. Of course for fans of the series sofar, we're thinking of ways to delight them outside of the TV show. Please continue to watch Digimon, including Tamers."
