| ON WHICH DAY OF THE WEEK WERE YOU BORN? The days and months of a calender are a sequence. You know the date on which you were born, but do you know the day of the week you were born? You can figure it out by extrapolating. Below the months and days have been assigned to help you find the answer. Months January 1* February 4* March 4 April 0 May 2 June 5 July 0 August 3 September 6 October 1 November 4 December 6 Days Sunday 1 Monday 2 Tuesday 3 Wednesday 4 Thursday 5 Friday 6 Saturday 0 (*For leap years-1976, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000-change January to 0 and February to 3.) 1. Write down the last two digits of the year you were born. 2. Divide the number by four. Ignore any remainder (any number left over). 3. Look at the list of months above, and find the digit that represents your month. 4. Now write down the date on which you were born. 5. You now have four numbers. Add them all together. 6. Divide this number by seven. The remainder is the number that is equal to the day on which you were born. If there isn't a remainder you were born on a Saturday. (Look at the chart of days above, your remainder will be beside the day you were born.) |
