OK to get characters w/o having to beat the game a bunch of times you have to go to your start menu and press on the program called "Search" or "Find." When the window opens up, click on the option "Search all files and folders." When it opens up type "user.ini." This will make the program start searching all files and folders. Two Folders will be called "USER" and "DefUser" should appear after a few minutes. Click on "USER" link and it will open tons of weird looking writings.
There should be some writing that says things like.....
[DefaultPlayer]
Name=(Name)
Class=Engine.Pawn
Character=(Character)
team=1
Sex=F
Voice=XGame.(Voice)
It is located at the upper left corner. When you find what your character you are just Click where the name is and erase all of the name. Then type one of the following names like "Xan" for Xan Kreigor, or "ClanLord" for ClanLord, or "Malcolm".Then click the exit button to close the window, it will ask you if you want to save it, click yes. If you are already on ut2k4 you will need to restart it... not reinstall the game.
Make sure you make a copy, because you might interupt the program.
