In our country today, it's all about details, details and details. We just keep stuffing our heads with more and more information. More and more information that relies so heavily on details. Well one of these days our heads are going to pop! Well... not literally, but I believe that it will ultimatly lead to confusion and chaos, as well as carry us further and further from the truth. For example, lets say that we know everything there is to know about a butterfly, but know nothing about anything else. How much do we truly know about that butterfly. We know everything about how the butterfly is, but do we know anything about why it is. We may know how the butterflies wings are shaped, but do we know why they are shaped the way they are? in order to understand the butterfly, we must stand back and study how the butterfly interacts with it's surroundings in order to know why it is the way it is. If we keep getting closer and closer to the butterfly, we just keep making more and more detailed observations which tell us very little about why. When it comes to understanding life, i believe that it is safe to say that it revolves around one ultimate goal, proportional balance. Life thrives in situations where there is not too much of this, and not too little of that. If there is too much or too little, the result is dysfunction, disease, suffering, and ultimatly death all of which are caused by imbalance.
Our country believes that you can understand something, just by knowing all about that one specific thing. We have people who specialize in this, and people who specialize in that. What our country has done a very poor job at, is creating people who specialize in understanding how and why all of these specific details interact and relate with each other. Everything in the world needs to fall under one principle idea, that everything is interconnected. A good quote is " The cause of one thing is the effect of another" and vica versa "The effect of one thing is the cause of another".
