Fetal Alcohal Syndrome

What Is It????
It is a syndrome that causes deformations in a new born child. These deformities include defects in the child’s face, the limbs, and it can even affect the heart. Fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) is caused when women whom have become pregnant consume heavy amounts of alcohol during pregnancy. This can cripple a child before they are even born.

What about New Years? A couple wont hurt...... right?
Celebrate the New Year with the birth of a healthy child. The United States Surgeons general advises on the bottle (beer, wine, liquor) that no one who has become pregnant should ever drink alcohol. (Richard H. Carmona, 2005) Yes it is true the FAS affects heavy drinkers, but a few drinks a week can have negative effects on the fetus. So try your hardest not to drink, and always use good judgment. For further answers consult a doctor.
