I know my last entry was awhile ago, sorry about that, I've been busy. In my last entry, I think I spoke about Derek and I needing to take it slow and concentrate on the baby, a few things have changed since then. On July 14th, Derek and I got married. We were suppose to have the wedding in the morning, but they had a game that day, so we had to wait. We had the wedding later that evening and everything went very well. I think the only down side was the fact that Alex (Rodriguez) was there and a few of the guests didn't like him. Oh well. Other than that, it went great. Everyone enjoyed themselves and I'm glad that everyone can get home safely. After a few years had passed, I had already felt like he and I were married, so there really wasn't a need to rush a ceremony. I wanted to get married in Yankee Stadium but he said that he wanted to take the traditional approach and get married in a church. The church was really pretty; it was small but kinda tall, ya know? But it was a good size, considering that we had appox. 250 guests (all Derek's family and friends). Though we didn't get married in the Stadium, we had the reception there, which worked out well because the clubhouse was large enough to hold all the guests. All the festivities ended around 1:30am, we all had to go home and get rested up for the series against the Philadelphia Phillies. If you watched the series you know that didn't go over too well and Joe wasn't all that happy with it. I can't really talk too much abt. exactly what was said but I can tell you that he didn't like the lack of effort they were putting forth. But I mean, that's Joe for ya. He never has a meeting with the team unless he thinks they'll actually benefit from it. He not like a lot of managers or coaches I've met since I've started working in this business. All the guys were taking the loses pretty bad, but after Joe talked to them, it was all good again. Now to fast forward a little bit. I don't know how many of you guys watched last night's game against the Toronto Blue Jays, but if you didn't see it, you missed out. I would just like to start off by saying that Chuck did good last night, if he wasn't left stranded on base so many times and if his shot out to left/center field wasn't caught, he would've earned another homer and we would've had us some lovely RBI's. I'm not pointing the blame at anyone. I'm just saying that Chuck was putting forth some great effort last night and I commend him for it (Good Job Knobalaka!!!). Now, I have to bring up what was probably the funniest (in a really sad, stoopid way) thing that happened last night. It was so funny to me, I'm laughing to myself now just thinking about it. Last night during the 4th inning, a play was made and Scott, Derek and Chuck all went to catch the ball over at the third base foul line. It drifted further and further toward the foul line, and so did the guys. Derek called the ball and went for it. He missed it and jumped up on the guardrail and landed on the otherside, right in the fans!! I thought it was so hilarious, I was dying!! But then I realized that he had landed on top of a metal stool, not very kosher to say the least. Joe and the trainers ran out to check on him, but he said he was ok enough to continue in the game. So the game went on and we lost, 10-4 (I think). Jessica, Chuck, Derek and I all went home (everyone who's been reading these entries know that Jessica and Chuck share an apartment with us right??). Chuck and Jessica went to their room for the night and I changed my clothes and got into bed. Derek, being the clean freak that he is,went and took a shower. I was laying in bed watching Jay Leno when he came out wearing a blue towel: "Does this look like a bruise?" He moved closer to me so I could see. "No. It's fine." "Does it look like it might bruise?" "No, it'll be ok. Don't worry about it ok?" "*sighs* Ok, I'll chill out. Will you give me a rub down?" "Sure. With lotion or the ointment stuff?" "Lotion on the body but ointment on the elbow and the ribs, please." "Since you asked so nicely, why not." He sprawled himself on the bed and I massaged lotion over him. I sat him up so I could massage his elbow. "How's this doing? Felling any better?" "Yeah. It's not as stiff as it used to be." "That's good. After that fall, do you think you're well enough to play in tomorrow's game?" "Yeah. I'm really not that sore, I'll make it." "Good, you know that George (Steinbrenner) is gonna be there right?" "Why?" "He and Joe are gonna have a meeting to discuss if Joe's gonna be renewing his contract. I know he wants to really bad, but you know George. If he sees one thing he doesn't like, then it's usually bye bye for them." "Joe'll be alright. He's done a lot for this team and George knows that. I'm sure he won't let Joe go." 'I hope you're right, it'd be sad to see him go." "Yes, it would...Ow!!" "Sorry, soft spot?" "Uh, yeah. Obviously." "I'm sorry. Maybe you should see the therapist tomorrow before the game and let him work on it a little." "Maybe, but I'm sure it's just tension from tonight's game." "I don't think you should take any chances though, not if you wanna play in the future. Ya know October isn't really that far away." "*sighs* Fine, I'll see the therapist tomorrow morning." "Thank you. Now in the mean time, shut up and go to bed." "You're abusing your power." "I know, who cares? Just get some rest." "Fine." "And don't even think abt turning the channel to watch Sportscenter." "Aw man!! You..." "KNow you too well, I know. Go to bed!" That was basically it for today. I'll try to write again soon.
