Wanna have a scrummy midnight feast at your sleepover? Or stuck for ideas for nibbles at your kid's party? Whatever party you're having, here are some cool recipes for food and drink to have the time of your life!
Kwik Kakes
(makes about 25)
Ingredients: 100g of self raising flour, margarine and caster sugar
2 eggs
Method:
All you need to do is follow these very simple steps.
1) cream the sugar and margarine together until soft and white
2) beat eggs in a cup and add a little to the sugar and margarine mixture
3) continue adding egg and beating until all the egg is used
4) stir in the flour
5) grease and flour 2 cake baking trays and divide the mixture into them
6) Leave the cakes to rise in an oven Gas Mark 4, 180 degrees centigrade, 350 degrees
farenheit for 20 minutes
Sweet bananas
pour some sugar into a pan and let it melt. while you are doing this, slice some bananas to get them ready. when the sugar is made into syrup, put the bananas in a seperate pan for a minute, then pour the melted sugar/syrup over them. stir together and serve with vanilla icecream and strawberry sauce for an extra treat!
Jelly soda
Me, my sister and cousin came up with this last year. It tastes nice, kids will love it!
You will need:
Pack of jelly cubes
Lemonade
Sherbert
Lemon
Orange
Method:
1) Squeeze the juice out of the lemon and orange into a small bowl, strain this this
through to a larger bowl to get rid of the bits. Or if you prefer; leave them in
2) Add as much lemonade as you need and stir in the sherbert (you can also use a
popular brand called 'Fizz Wizz' which you can find at all good sweet shops,
including 'Woolworths')
3) Break the jelly cubes up and place them in seperate glasses, serve the drink with
them. Alternately, you can scoop out the insides of the lemon and orange halfs and
serve the cocktail in them for a fun touch.
Decorated biscuits
For young children, a fun 'game' to play at their parties could be to decorate their own biscuits. You will need to have plenty of glace icing at hand to stick the decorations to the biscuits. If you don't want to use glace icing like everyone does you can try any of the following methods:
*Melted chocolate (with or without chopped nuts)
*2 tbs peanut butter with 100g/4oz of chocolate
*Add 2 tbs of orange juice to the glace icing to give it a different flavour
here are some ideas for toppings:
*'Hundreds and Thousands' sprinkled over the top
*Milk or white chocolate buttons
*jelly sweets (small)
*silver edible balls
*glace cherries
*nuts
*licorice pieces
or anything else you can get your hands on!
Have fun!
