BACHELOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
What is environmental engineering?
Environmental engineeiring is a specialized field of engineering which emphasises appropriate solutions to existing environmental problems and development of innovative stategies and technologies for a sustainable future.
Environmental Engineering deals with the planning, design, implementation and management of the engineering aspects involved with the quality of our land, air and water. Current and future infrastructure problems in municipal, industrial, mining and rulal environments are dealt with.
Career Opportunities
Career opportunities for graduates exist within local, state and federal government; mining, manufacturing and processing industries; environmental consultancies and in financial and legal service sector.
The major tasks for environmental engineers are to improve environmental quality and to strike a balance between human demands and environmental needs. On the one hand their concern is to protect human populations form potentially hazardous environmental conditions. On the other, it is to protect the environment - including humans - from the detrimental effects of human activities.
General
The Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental engineering degree course has been developed to meet tomorrow's needs for solutions to environmental problems and for sustainable development. The course reflects a broad vision of the engineer of the future, with an emphasis on communications skills.
The course is four years full time and is accredited by the institute of Engineers, Australia.
