| No other seer is as famous as sixteenth-century doctor, Michel de Nostredame. Throughout his life he was outspoken and unconventional. The inquisition accused him of heresy, and he spent much of his time travelling to escape capture. However, he still managed to make numerous predictions about the future -in particular, the 20th and 21st century. The following two prophecies are what Nostradamus saw as our fate as we enter a new millenium. 1999 In the year 1999 and seven months, from the sky will come a great, frightening king. To raise again the great king of the Mongols. Before, after, Mars shall reign happily. Interpretation Nostradamus is quite specific with his date in this quartrain, and he is predicting doom and gloom for the end of this millennium. Not only does he foretell the appearance of the 'King of the Mongols' (which could be taken to be the third antichrist, of eastern origin), he aslo predicts that wars will rage ('Mars shall reign happily') both before and after this period. (Century 10, quatrain 72) Twentieth century The machine of flying fire shall come to trouble the great besieged chief. Within there shall be so much sedition that those abandoned shall be in despair. Interpretation A quatrain describing modern military weapons used in warfare during the siege of a city. There is no clue as to the dating of the event. Could possibly be reffering to Kosovo or East Temor. |
