Capricorn is the tenth sign of the zodiac. It is cardinal, feminine and the first sign of winter, corresponding to the time of year when the nights are longer than the days. The sun moves into capricorn on 20 or 21 December, where it stays until 19 or 20 January, depending on the year.
Season
Winter. The cold weather is setting down over the surface of the earth. But, deep down, the seeds are working, protecting themselves. The trees have lost their leaves. Animals are hibernating. Men take refuge indoors, to shelter from the cold.
Element
The earth. The earth seems austere and sterile but hides in its bosom the riches of the future. It is the cold earth, seemingly lifeless on the outside, but warm and alive inside.
