1.) What are Tech Decks, or Fingerboards?
Fingerboards are mini versions of skateboards. They fit in the palm of your hand and are JUST like real size skateboards. They have 4 wheels, 2 trucks, a cool design on the bottom , black grip tape on top, and other little pieces such as extra wheels and nuts and bolts. The most popular company is Tech Deck and they have MANY fingerboard designs. And one of the coolest parts of fingerboards is that they are real designs from real companies! Some of the companies include World Industries, Foundation, Element, Birdhouse (Tony Hawk comes to mind : ) and Zero. Those are just SOME of the many companies that Tech Deck is using today.
2.) Why do you have a web page about them?
Yes I know. It seems like they are just kid toys. But they are more than that. You can do real tricks and even real skateboards practice with them to learn/do tricks. They are inexpensive (around $5-10... any higher/lower is rare) and come with the board and pieces. And one of the best parts of having a fingerboard is that you buy ramps to do tricks on such as half-pipes, grind bars, and more! They have only been around for about a year (not sure on this) and already have been a success.
3.) Where can I buy them?
Usually you can buy them for $3-10 at your local retail store.Targets the best. There also at K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Toys R Us or local skating shops in your town. Usually the ramps are hard to find but I have seen them online and at a local skate shop one time. Your best bet would be to hop on over to www.techdecks.com and order them safe and secure (PROMISE!!!) online. They range from various prices so CHECK THEM OUT! Also there are a lot more ramps not shown on that site that you can buy that are not from Tech Deck. Go on www.yahoo.com (or your favorite search engine) and search for "Fingerboard ramps" or something of that sort. Usually you can find what you are looking for there.
(HINT: Put wax on your object your grinding. wax works for real sk8boards and techdecks!)
Better Doh-Doh's
Doh-Doh's are the plastic rings around the kingpin on your truck's. To replace them, first remove the upper part of the truck and release the small rings (the doh-doh's). Then get a rubber band somewhere and cut him into small cubes. Get a needle and make a hole through the whole cube.
Then put it around the kingpin. I recommend you to put 3 to 4 of these cubes on the kingpin, to get the best result.....
Better griptape
First remove the griptape wich is now on your fingerboard, by putting a knife under the grip. Then take a piece of grip from a real skateboard and cut it into a fitting form. Make sure all the grip from the fingerboard is removed, then putt some strong gleu on the fingerboard and putt the new griptape on it really carefull. This is the hardest part, let it dry until the next
morning, then play.
You can also go to your local Sk8 shop and they will do it for free.
If you want a good curve on a 1/4 pipe go to a teacher store and get the biggest protractor they have and then you can trace the curve with that!
Building a skatepark
Building skateparks are real easy.If you dont have any money and you still want a good skatepark take some shoeboxs (I took 2 and built alot of stuff) and cut them in to half pipes, fun boxs, stairs, and whatever you can think of.For copings I used straws and coat hangers(lol).Use a big piece of plywood or balsa whatever to puit your ramps on. Use maskingtape or glue to place them on objects and to build them.
If you do have money then you can make it out of wood.I dont have much advise for this but balsa wood works good.Email me and ill give you websites for ramp plans.
