RPD UPDATE- 12th June 2002

RPD are BACK!!! Rob, Phil & Ducky Productions 2002

Rob Longson- 12th June 2002
So, the question begs answering-what have we done since the RPD Extravaganza (December)-the answer is NOT MUCH!!
Our intentions were good, believe me! We did quite a bit on 'The Runaways'....but we never finished it. We totally abandoned Psalm 34, we started a spoof rock documentart on 'Deplorable Word' but nothing happened there either. Then for a VERY brief spell (one night) RPD transformed into RED (Rob, Emily, Ducky) to produce 'Bored'- a film about 3 people being bored (surprisingly) and (again surprisingly) it turned out to be a little, well, boring!! Oh, I almoost forgot, we tried a psychological horror type thing..but it was stupid-we called it 'Scared' and featured one guy (me) visiting his frineds house to discover that his friend wasn;t there-he hangs around a bit and begins to suspect when a) phone rings and goes dead and b) someone starts playing a piano oh yes and c) someone walks past the window. It was, in short, a little bit of a disaster!!

And now I expect you want to know what we plan to do now!?! Take a deep breath......we are returning to The Corny Thriller Saga-no i said a breath not a groan! Anyway, let's face it, the story was a little, shall we say, patchy and Corny Thriller 3 did come across a little rushed nd unprepared whilst Corny Thriller 2 was...dull and the original Corny Thriller was bordering stupid. So the time has come to set the record straight!! Confidence is high and the storyline is already set and we can't wait to get down to work...this is going to be the best film yet.....even better than the RPD Extravaganza 9and that IS saying something. However, a few minor details stand in our way...mainly the fact that WIll Duckworth and I aren't sure whther the great Phil Lawson will join us on this one?!?! I know, from the genius himself, that he DOES want to do another film but that he is UNCERTAIN as to whether he wants to do another Corny Thriller...time will tell. Apart from that we are looking strong with several likely additions to our rapidly expanding cast list!!! Come back soon........bye bye.

RPD

RPD Pictures was founded in February 2001 by Phil Lawson, Will Duckworth and Rob Longson.
Their first production: Corny Thriller; In The Beginning was a totally spontaneous picture was written, produced, filmed and edited within the space of the day. Corny Thriller : In the Beginning was a worthy starting point for the trio as the audience reaction was consistently positive and also featured a performance by Rob Longson's younger brother Philip.
This kind of praise and encouragement led to Rob, Phil and Ducky to continue to make films, as they did when they completed their biggest, most accepted, crowning piece; The Card Game Trilogy.
The Card Game delighted audiences and it wasn't long before RPD receieved offers from intrigued fans who were keen to be a part of their movie; Corny Thriller II: The Awakening. Current film-making rival and producer of "Scull-Head" Philip Ireland was confident of earning the part of Dr.Q whilst Will Duckworth's sister Emily secured her role as Miss Emily Amelia. Ireland however was rejected.
Corny Thriller II: The Awakening saw a change of pace for RPD as more dark, subtle comedy was used and the storyline approached more intellectually. CT2 did not receieve as much praise from audiences but is currently being recognised for the brilliant and imaginitative piece of work it is.
Then followed a 'down-period' for RPD as they took time off filming to plan, write and hire cast for what was to be their best overall film; Corny Thriller III: The Phantom Rakcet. CT3 was highly anticipated amongst fans and RPD was innundated with requests for parts. The decision was passed to bring back Philip Longson and Emily Duckworth whilst introducing Chris Ball, Laura Burke and Jodie Grimes. Chris Nash also joined the team as guest camera operator but was fired shortly after production for explotation of the RPD label.
Corny Thriller III took three months to complete spanning July, August and September 2001. It brought an end to the prestigious Corny Thriller Saga and earned RPD more widespread recognition following an impromptu public performance!
Now, January 2002 RPD are still going strong. Despite PSALM 34 being temporarily shelved (!) RPD continue to blast creativity from their brains!! Will Duckworth has written The Runaways-looks to be the 6th release (!) and together the team has modified to best suit their needs and the first half has been shot not once but twice with the rest soon to follow!! Not only this but all 3 put their sense of humour and surreal observing of the human life to good use in the RPD Extravaganza!! What next?? An Extravaganza 2?? Extension to Corny Thriller-even a prequel?? The possibilities seem endless and with SO many ideas circulating surely something good will spill out!!
