If you'll follow me in here, I'll show you the historical references of our realm. Even if you're not interested in history, I'm sure you may find something to your liking. Many of these books were written during the Time of War, so you will get a better picture of what the wars were like. I hope you enjoy this room as much as the last.

Excerpt from Warriors - written during the Time of War. Author unknown.
In 346 A.B during the present Time of the Realm of the Riane, a war against another realm is being fought. The enemy is very disciplined and seems to have an endless supply of weapons. There is no male or unmarried female over the age of sixteen not involved in the fighting. The farmers have forgotten about the upcoming harvest and continue to make innovative weapons to attack the enemy. The people who remain are working the fields to the best of their ability to provide food for our city. The Queen and King are trying to help, but they are young and inexperienced in war. The people of our realm are warriors, though, and will continue to defend our home.
Diary entry from 352 A.B. - written during the Time of War. Author: Ceire Arlen
Dearest Diary,
The times are hard. I am fighting in this never-ending war. It is beginning to be unbearable. I am tired of the meager rations, confusion, endless drilling, and the constant bloody killing on the battlefield. My boyfriend has disappeared recently, and he hasn't returned. I fear for his life and safety. I fear for my own life and safety, and for the well-being of my mother and siblings. I would give anything to sleep in a comfortable, warm bed under the roof of a sturdy house. The troops camp in tents in the woods, eight men and women mixed and crammed into tents made for two or three. We all believe in one cause, though, and despite the hardships, rarely fight with each other. My tentmates and I are all best friends, thankfully. On the brighter side, there are no signs of mutiny or turncoats, and our army has remained one whole for many years. I only hope this will end soon, and that I will escape with my life...
A letter from a soldier to his family during the Time of War.
4th Fallon, 354 A.B.
Dear Mother, Father, Aviva, and Bevin,
I am well, although short of time to write, therefore the lack of letters. The war is at a lull, giving us time for some freedom. We still drill everyday, though, but in the evening there is time for a few hours of dancing and singing. Rations are still meager, so if you could spare some food, it would be appreciated. My roommates - all six of them - and I are becoming close friends. Despite the crowded space, we haven't had many arguments and try to remain in good spirits with each other. One of my friends, Brady, is looking over my shoulder as I write this. The two women, Liana and Collene are in the corner of the tent talking at the present. The rest of them - Kieran, Daray, and Corin - are outside at the party. I'll be trying to sleep tonight, instead.
How are things at home? Are Bevin and Aviva getting along and helping out? Father, have you recovered from your wound received in battle yet? I hope you are alright. I wish I could come home, but I am fighting to save our home, and we will emerge victorious if the Rianians have anything to do with it!
Well, I must go now, for I have no more information to relate. Write back!
Love,
Sean
Historical reference of the Time of War. Written in 412 A.B. during the Time of Rebuilding by Brielle Leara.
The war started when invaders from another realm crossed the border into Riane in 342 A.B. The Rianian people, with newly elected leaders, were not warriors. But as more and more were being carted off during the night to prisons in the Forest of Shadows, warriors were made. Some were merely children at fifteen and sixteen years of age. Others were well into old age, some nearing the age of seventy. Men and women melted silver into swords and made crude slingshots. Bows and arrows were carefully crafted. Spears and other weapons were dug out of storage in attics and cellars. The ragtag army then left to defeat the invaders. Some 30,000 people camped outside near the River Riane in the winter and through spring. The war waged on, constantly flipping sides. Farmers left their fields to fight, and whole towns were deserted when all the citizens went off to war. The king and queen were young and inexperienced, but they handled the situation admirably, electing palace guards as captains and generals of the troops.
The war continued for fifteen years, and the invaders were finally forced to surrender in the 8th Fallon of 359 A.B. (after building). The Treaty of Peace was signed by each realm's rulers and neither has interfered with each other since. Of the 30,000 Rianians who went to war, about 23,000 survived, 15,000 of those without major injuries.
--Brielle Leara, Palace Historian. 6th Fallon of 412 A.B.
An excerpt from a history textbook dated 3rd Fallon of 514 A.B.
After the War of the Realms, rumors began of dark forces on the other side of the forest. The forest became known as the Dark Forest, and stories were made up to scare children into going to bed on time and other such things. However, some truth came to these stories from six people who had appeared in the Realm of the Riane immediately after the war. They became known as the Guides, because they were always "guiding" people away from the forest and back to the towns and city. Their names were not found out until five years later and bear an eerie resemblance to our present guides' names. Arella was the leader of the guides, Irena was wielder of Air, Geldan was wielder of Earth, Sereanna was wielder of Spirit, Rilly was wielder of Fire, and Keryon was wielder of Water. They were always helpful and sometimes gave advice to the Queen and King.
Are you tiring of your history class? Even if you aren't maybe we can make time to come back later, but now you must see the Chamber of Tales.
