The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has continually demonstrated
its blatant incompetence through expensive and stupid errors over the years. Not only the
disastrous fiasco with the Hubble telescope (which cost many millions to fix) but other
major problems as well. Notably, the problems with Mars exploration in recent years that have led to the loss of billions of dollars worth of equipment and loss of the relevant data promised are particularly vexing both to scientists and science-watchers.

In particular, note the arrogance and secrecy vis a vis certain anomalous features on the surface of the planet in the Cydonia region. I am not referring only to the putative Face but other structures which have intrigued world class scientists such as Dr. Mark Carlotto and researchers DePietro and Molenaar. Dr. Stanley McDaniel (Prof Emeritus and former chairman of the Philosophy Dept at Sonoma State University)has also offered a great deal of epistemological and ethical criticism of NASA's treatment of data from the Cydonia region of Mars.

The martian expeditions, especially, should be taken out of the hands of those subservient to the obsolete Cold War mentality still ruling NASA. The only way to achieve this is through complete and total privatization of the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration. The government cannot be trusted with the evaluation and control of such data because of its low level of objectivity and its proven tendency toward prevarication.
Initially private work on NASA could involve sale of communication and weather satellites. But Mars exploration could be funded in conjunction with private film producers with an established interest in such work such as Spielberg and others, who clearly have the wherewithal for such undertakings.

The result would also have the benefit of complete de-militarization of space. This would greatly decrease the possibility of the US from starting World War III as it seems clearly determined to do from its recent behavior in the last decade. Overall, despite the
apparently quixotic nature of this idea it is obviously an idea whose time has come.
