First, I take you to the Orono PeeWee A Team, who just had their first season game on Sunday, November 14 1999, and tied it 3 to 3 against Mound with a near victory after a penalty shot was taken by Will Smith, the team's captain. He barely missed the shot, when it hit off the pipe.
Well, a 5 days passed, and now for the Team's second challenge....Hutchinson. The team, with captain Will Smith and assistant captains Tripp Standa and Matt Bares, found no challenge there! The team finished the game with a 9 to 0 victory. First line forward Jeff Swiontkowski was close to a hat trick with two magnificent goals against Hutch. MVP's of this game were 1) Forward Jeff Swiontkowski 2) Goalie Dean DeYoung
It's the 21st, and now the team takes on Cold Springs. We didnt think the game would be that difficult, and we were right! The team won it 9 to 3, with a hat trick by Will Smith, and four goals by defenseman Tripp Standa. The game was opend with a goal on the first shot, followed by another for Orono. Cold Springs responded with a goal on the second shot. When Orono left the ice after the second period, the score was 7 to 2. What really surprised me about the game was that the Cold Spring parents were actually louder, and more annoying then the Mound parents! The MVPs of this game were 1) Defense Tripp Standa 2) Forward Will Smith
Next was Cold Springs again! If you read the paragraph above, you'd see that Cold Springs isnt the best team in the world, but it is Cold Springs first year they've ever had a Peewee A Team. Orono won the game 12 to 1, with six goals scored by Jeff Swiontkowski! Jason Sawicki, the goalie fo the team, got two shots on goal!! THe only two of the whole game! GO JASON!!! The MVPs of the game were 1) Jeff Swiontkowski and 2)Jason Sawicki -Yeah JASON!!

Well, on the 18th, Orono Peewee A took on Mound for the second time. This game was pretty similar. After the second period, in this game the score was 3 to 1. But this time, Orono pulled it out with a shut-out period, and won it 4 to 1. Forward Will Smith scored two fantastic goals. MVP of the game is 1) Will Smith
On December 21, Orono took on Crow River. It looked like it would be a close game, with the score tied 1 to 1 after the first period. But when Orono got two unexpected goals by Will Smith, the score flew up to 6 to 0, and that was the final score of the game. MVP of the game, for the 3rd time, 1) Will Smith!
Well, the first season game of the year 2000 was a succesful one for Orono. They won their game against Buffalo with an idetical score, 4 to 2. That makes Orono have 18 points, and tied with Buffalo for the lead in the district. Buffalo now has 2 losses, and Orono is still undefeated! Tripp Standa knocked in two goals, and Will Smith and Kyle Dynan put in the other two.
The game against Litchfield was a surprise! Both the goalies were sick, so Brett Persons (a defenseman) was the goalie. He did good, and he only got 3 goals scored against him! The game was won 12 to 3, with Orono In the lead.
Well, Hutch is known for their "unfair" refs, and it showed.... I think this game was one of the weirdest and (as forward Shannon Terry said) the most "fun" game of the season. But despite the refs, Orono scored 5 goals when the refs called two penaltys on Orono. Hutch pulled their goalie, and made it a 6 on 3. Will Smith then knocked in a back-hander and made the final score 6 to 1.
Orono made St.Michael/Albertville look like a joke, with the final score rising to 12 to 1! Of the many players who scored were the following: Defensive men Tripp Standa and Matt Bares, and forwards Will Smith and Aaron Schreoder. Forward Jeff Swiontkowski scored an amazing 3 goals!!
One of the teams that was going to challenge Orono's undefeated record was Willmar. They're ranked 4th in the district, and want that third place by into regionals. But Orono fought 'em off well! Of the shocking 10 to 3 win, many players contributed to the goals. Including Tripp Standa (with two goals) Zach Ericson (with 3 goals) and Jeff Swiontkowski (with one goal) Two amazing assists were given by Aaron Schroeder, and Jeff Swiontkowski.
STMA wasnt rated high in the District standings, but they were pretty good. Orono ended the game with a 10 to 3 victory, with players such as Tripp Standa and Will Smith scoring goals.
Crow River was the last team for Orono, in season play. They ended up beating them, 7 to 0, and having an undefeated season!! Congragulations!! Players like Jeff Swiontkowski and Shannon contributed to the goals. See you all in the District Playoffs!
