Here is some information on have a pet chinchilla
- Twice a week you have to give your chinchilla a dust bath
- They eat 2 tablespoons of chinchilla food a day.
- They need a chew block
- They have to have untreated pine shavings for bedding
- Chinchillas need at least 15 minutes of exercise a day, or if they have a big cage, you can put a wheel in it.
- They need a cage with a shelf and ladder.
- They need to be indoors.
- 18 by 24 by 18 is the smallest size cage you should have.
- They need a sleeping house.
- Clean cages once a week.
- Twice a year scrub cage with soap and a little bit of bleach.
- They get to be 9-11 inches long and 1-2 pounds
- They need clean water every day
Chinchillas are fantastic pets for houses that own other animals because they are easy to take care of. When hay is soiled by urine, take it out of the cage because it can make fungus and give your chinchilla outright diarrhea. Do not give your chinchilla to many treats! Raisins, bits of apples, and dry bread make good substitute treats that will not give your chinchilla diarrhea! If your chinchilla becomes sick and will not eat, add ½ a teaspoon of apple vinegar to its water. Buy a chinchilla bath for it to bath in the chinchilla dust. Groom your chinch illa before the dust bath, never after. Chinchilla’s eyes must be dry and sparkling. If the chinchilla’s nose is running than keep it warm and give it water.
