Life in waiting, under the ground,
undetectable above ground. A seed from which beautiful life springs.
Quiet, undisturbing, harmless you might say,
unless protected and nurtured.
Slowly growing,
trying break free to the fresh air above the fertile, protecting soil.
I break free stretching my young leaves ever toward the nurturing and loving sun. Refreshing my youth,
temporarily quenching my thirst for life.
I slowly grow,
continually stretching towards the sky.
I have changed much,
I have with stood the tests of time,
and now have fresh young buds sprouting,
ready to burst with beautiful life.
Time passes and I blossom in all of natures glory.
I offer my beauty to all in nature.
But alas such radiance comes with it’s mortal price.
I will soon lose my vitality.
My petals wither and dry,
I slowly lose my youth,
edging towards the time that I will finally rejoin Mother Earth.
I am at the brink of the inevitable,
but before I leave this place forever,
I give the Earth the fruits of my labor, seeds.
They will grow in my place,
giving more as a group than I could alone.
Some will never start,
and join me long before the others,
but their places will be filled as well.
I have fulfilled my place,
and now return to earth from which all things begin and end.
I enter the eternal sleep,
making it easier for the next generation to carry on,
forever lending beauty to a mundane world.
