Leon's Fashions, the source for fashion in Austin for over 70 years, is closing its doors. The last day for the Northcross Mall location will be January 29. Currently, the entire inventory is 60% off the marked price. This includes new fall merchandise, as well as previous season shoes, clothes and handbags already marked 20 to 50% off. Specially selected apparel and all belts are now marked 70% off the current sale price. Prices will drop as the closing date approaches, but hurry in while hard to fit sizes are still available. In addition, furs, and leathers, as well as jewelry, have been brought in for this event.
The manager of the store, Al Remer, is planning to open his own shoe store in the Austin area. He has been the buyer for the Austin Leon's for many years, and plans to carry the same lines of shoes in the hard to fit sizes, as well as handbags and selected accessory items. The new store is tentatively planned to open in Spring 2000, and the prospective site is North Loop Center, at Burnet and North Loop. Check this site for more information as it becomes available.
