LAfERRIERE is a self contained hamlet of houses located 1km from the village of St Severin with a baker, restaurant & post office. It is 3kms from the small historic town of Aubeterre with its famous subterranean church, main shops, bank, local craft shops etc. and 15kms from the market town of Riberac. It is seven hours drive from the Channel ports, and 90 minutes' drive from Bordeaux International airport.
This part of South West France is noted for its big skies, long hot summers, fine food and, of course, its wine, Cognac and Pineau des Charente!
Sunflowers abound in the fields of the Dronne valley and the pace of life is tranquil.
For gastronomes, there are many fine restaurants nearby and for the more energetic visitor, there is an English-run 9 hole golf course 1 km away, and a beach at nearby Aubeterre, with canoeing on the river Dronne, tennis and volleyball
If you can tear yourself away from your pool, why not take a day trip to one of the historic towns of Aubeterre, Riberac, Brantome or Perigueux, or visit St Emilions vineyards only 40 minutes away? Taste the local speciality Cognac, or drive to the Atlantic coast 1.5 hours away. During the summer months, there are many local music festivals and other cultural events in the nearby towns and villages.
