Hickory, North Carolina Weather
DETAILED FORECAST
High pressure is moving toward the region today and a strong area of low pressure off the New England coast moving away further into the Atlantic will allow winds to gradually relax today. I still expect breezy conditions but we will not see the gusty winds from yesterday. Sunny skies will carry us through the day with only a few early scattered clouds in the mountains. After a very cold start well down into the 20s, afternoon high temperatures will struggle but should reach the low 50s. Tonight has the potential to be even colder as the area of high pressure to our west moves over the Carolinas. Clear skies, calm winds and very dry air will allow the atmosphere to cool off very efficiently. I expect widespread low to mid 20s by sunrise Friday. Friday afternoon will warm into the mid 50s and 60 is around the corner for Saturday.

NOAA, the federal agency responsible for tsunami and all severe weather warnings, officially recognized the City of Norfolk as the latest of 26 TsunamiReady communities along U.S. coasts. Norfolk also was recognized as StormReady, becoming one of nearly 1,000 communities across the country with a proactive approach to warning and educating the public about tornadoes, flooding and other severe weather.
