Guinea pigs make excellent pets for young children and live to about 3-4 yrs on average,if they are taken care of properly.I must warn you though,guinea pigs can be very fragile and and are suseptable to such diseases as scurvy,mites and lice and unless you clean your piggys cage and care for it on a daily basis neither you or your piggy will be happy.
