Welcome to my DragonBall Z Page. Even though the
title mentions DragonBall Z and only DBZ, this page has to
do with DragonBall in general. DragonBall was created by
Akira Toriyama and it started off as a manga in 1984. It was
based on the Chinese legend, "Saiyuki," or, "Journey to the
West," and was edited in a weekly manga magazine called
"Shonen Jump." The anime which was released by TOEI
Animation in 1986 was based on the manga. It was more
like a comedy with some martial arts blended into it.
DragonBall focused on the main character, Gokou, and all
his adventures trying to collect the DragonBalls which
granted wishes. Then when Gokou grew up, he met his
Saiya-Jin brother, Raditz, and the DragonBall Z series
began (although in the manga, the name remained
DragonBall). After DBZ, it seemed DragonBall was over,
but then TOEI Animation decided to release DragonBall GT
without Akira Toriyama. This series started off with Gokou
being wished back as a child by
Pilaf, one of the villains from
DragonBall. After DragonBall GT
ended, it was truly the end of
DragonBall...But that doesn't mean it's gone forever. We'll still remember it in out
hearts and what not. In the U.S. though, it's actually just beginning to gain
popularity. FUNimation dubbed the first thirteen DragonBall episodes, aired them,
then cut it off. Then they dubbed twenty six DragonBall Z episodes and people
actually began to take up interest in DragonBall Z. The U.S. episodes unfortunately
were censored and the anime lost much of its original feeling because of the
censoring of some what strong language and blood. After that, FUNimation
dubbed another twenty seven episodes which were also censored. Then it looked
like DragonBall Z was once again cut off, and they didn't even finish the Freeza
Saga. Then FUNimation decided to release more episodes that continued the
Freeza Saga. Although the voice overs were different and took some getting used
to, U.S. fans rejoiced over more DBZ episodes being brought to the U.S. Also,
these new episodes weren't as censored (they showed some blood) as the first fifty
three episodes, but they were still considered censored material. Hopefully
FUNimation will decide to dub more episodes so that DragonBall will continue to
live on.
The Dragon Balls are the only thing that can bring Goku back to life. A large
search now starts. While in "Heaven" Goku travel the Great Snake Way (a
long road) to get to King Kai's home for some intense training. Gohan, who
is now being trained by Piccolo is gearing up for the intense battle. After
many days the Saiyans arrive, and Goku still is not back yet.A fight breaks
out, Gohan and the team show their great strength but are still no
match.Yamcha is killed by a Saibamen, Teienshinhan and Chaout-zu try
suicidal blasts (which don't work)and Piccolo is killed. When Goku does
arrive he quickly takes care of Nappa and goes on to battle Vegeta. In a
long, tiring battle in which Vegeta turned into an Ooharazu and
cheated.(Yajirobe cut off his tail to change him back.) When they finally
defeat Vegeta he crawls back intp his Saiyan space pod and Krillin is about
to kill him when. . . Goku stops him. After the battle Goku is taken to the
hospital. In an attempt to bring back those who were killed in the battle,
Gohan, Bulma and Krillin set out to look for the Dragonballs to wish them
back.
