| Louisiana businessman Ben D. Johnson of Natchitoches LA recently presented Grambling State University with a check of $200,000. The donation is the second largest single amount ever made to the school by an individual. |
To help present the donation was Johnson's life-long friend and GSU alumnus, Ivory Smith. The Jet photo also included GSU President Steve Favors and GSU National Alumni Association President James Bradford. |

Ben Johnson is CEO and board chairman of Winnfield Funeral Homes and Insurance Company, based in Natchitoches LA, his hometown.

Though he is not an alumnus of GSU, Johnson earmarked the money for endowments, scholarships and alumni projects, in addition to establishing a cooperative program between the university and the Ben D. Johnson Alternative School in Natchitoches.
