VICTIM OF TUBERCULOSIS

A dark gloom has been cast over the residents of the Johnson community as a result of the death fo Mrs. Jemima Johnson, which occurered at her home at that place last Saturday morning at 3 o'clock, following a long and painful illness fo tuberculosis.

The deceased was born and reared in Morgan county Missouri, and was 56 years of age at the time of her death. She was married to W.R. (Bob) Johnson, July 12, 1869, and to this union seven children were born, three boys and four girls. All are living except one , a son, Frank , who died March 28,1890, at the age of 16 years.

The other are as follows:
Messrs. William and G.H. Johnson of that community
Mrs. Fannie Sauls
Mrs. Ellen Shindley (this should have been Schindler)
Mrs. Emma Bass
Mrs. Lizzie Cughron of this county.
The latter and her husband were living with her parents at the time of the death of her mother, she having nursed her mother through most to her illness.

The children are all comfortably located in good homes tn that community and all were with their mother when the end came.
Mrs. Johnson's maiden name was Miss Jemima Rowden, but was known by her friends and neighbors and "Aunt Kate".

She professed religion 34 years ago, and was united with the Missionary Baptist church in Missouri. Shortly afterwards she moved with her husband to Texas and settled in the Blue Ridge community. There she joined the Primitive Baptist church with her husband and lived a consistent Christian up to the time of her death.

She was of a cheerful temperment, and tried to make happy everyone with whom she came in contact. Her home was her pastor's home, ar any other ministers home as long as she had one to offer.
She was a loving mother and dutiful wife, She and her good family had resided in the Johnson community for many years and she leaves a large circle fo friends who will mourn her death.

The remains of this good Christian woman were laid to rest in the Altoga cemetery, in the presence of a large concourse of friends. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. J.W. Webb of Tioga. The editors of these papers extend the deepest sympathy to the bereaved husband and children in the death of their loving wife and mother.
