It's not so much that we need to be loved. We need to love.
It's the basic let it begin with me thing.
I find myself sometimes reserved, holding back until someone cues me that it's safe to love, safe to speak openly, freely.
It's the getting to know you game as we jump through the hoops of whatever conventions are in force at any given moment. Who do you know? Where do you live?
What do you do? Who do you think God is? Birds checking to see if our feathers match.
We need to love differences, all the way to loving our enemies.
It starts with opening ourselves to others, remembering we are the strangers.
