Distort The Band: Josh Smith: Guitar/Vocals Jack Merwin: Drums/Vocals Jason Ash: Bass/Vocals Origin: Big Lake A piss ant town that the most exciting thing to do is play loud music and drink. Two of the three members grew up in Big Lake the other in a town called Montrose where it was the same situation only a smaller town. With such common backgounds it was inevitable the three of us would hook up. The beginning to the present: Biography A week after I(Josh)bought my first guitar 2 weeks before the first "lesson" Jack walked up to me and asked if I wanted to start a band. Without hesitation I agreed. At the time when I was thinking about starting a band I thought Jack Would be the last guy I would get to be my drummer. He had been playing for a few years already and I was just starting. My best friend from childhood was starting to play guitar at the same time so he joined too. He easily got side tracked(whipped)when he got a girlfriend, and was soon out. Then we got two friends from school to join. A bass player and guitarist(I'm not using names for reputation reasons they know who they are).We soon realized after too many canceled practices they weren't very committed and were out just before the recording of our first demo. We have two demos to the present day working on a full length release. First demo 2 songs second demo 5 songs. Both demos were recorded in Jack's basement. The music on both demos was by Jack and I only. We both did our parts filling for the bass and guitar layers. They were recorded and produced by friends and fellow musicians Chris Strand and Andy Lageson. After they were gone it was just Jack and I and in a bind we got the old guitarist back and Jack's exgirlfriend joined in and played bass. that worked for a little while taking 4th place in a battle of the bands at the Quest in Minneapolis. Short after that Jack and his split up and there was a mutual seperation between her and the band. Not long after that the guitarist became uncommitted and was out. Soon after the recording of the second demo through my step brothers band INRI we met our bass player Jason and have played numeruos rocking shows with INRI and other local bands in the couple of months Jason has been with us. Together we have been bringing on a new wave of metal setting the stage with a presence feared by some loved by most. Our Style: Our music is kind of moderate to heavy metal. With influences of deftones metallica and other great metal bands a list to long to name them all!
