Cell is shocked when he sees Vegeta's power. He doesn't know what to do with himself. He tries to knock Vegeta off his feet, but he jumps and kicks him into the air before Cell even gets a chance to respond. Before Cell hits the ground, Vegeta catches up to him and kicks him in the stomach. He then gets on top of him and elbows him in the back causing him to collide with the ground. Meanwhile, Krillin shows up and tries to sneak up on the Cyborgs in order to shut them down. Cell climbs up and starts looking at that "strange boy" over there. Vegeta lets him have it by telling him that that's Trunks and he's not even near as strong as Vegeta, but can still take him out. Then Vegeta does one of the worst things you can do to an opponent. He says that it would be useless for him to kill him now. Cell gets angry and says, "If only I had my perfect form I'd beat you!" Now he's gotten Vegeta's attention.

Vegeta starts up, "So you're saying that if you had your perfect form you wouldn't lose to me?" Cell screams, "That's right, I wouldn't lose to anyone! I'd have Perfect Power! Perfect Speed! Perfect reflexes! A Perfect Brain! I'd be Perfect in every way! That's what the computer told me!" Vegeta then kicks him in the face which causes him to go soaring across the island. While 16 and 18 watch, Krillin sneaks up on them with the remote. I gets right next to 18 and presses the button. She can't move! Vegeta continues the conversation, "Are you saying that despite the power difference between us, you'd beat me in your Perfect Form?" "How many times do I have to repeat myself? Of course I would!" Just before Krillin can destroy 18, he remembers the kiss and his feelings for her. He drops the remote and crushes it. 18 has no idea why he'd do something like that. Cell speaks more to Vegeta, "It looks like you're thinking it over. How about it, Vegeta? You're a Saiyan. You love to fight. The stronger the opponent, the more enjoyable the battle. Well? Am I wrong? Wouldn't you love to fight me in my Perfect Form?" This is the clincher. Vegeta tells him to "Go ahead, achieve your Perfect Form." Finally Trunks intervenes and stops Cell. Cell then spots 18 as she asks Krillin why he would break the remote. Cell will soon become Perfect.

Before Cell has a chance to go get her, Trunks points out the obvious by shouting, "Hey! Cell's here!" He then tells Cell that he won't let him reach his Perfect Form. He powers up, and undergoes a transformation much like the way Goku did when He went Kaio-Ken 4X the first time. Before Trunks can catch up to Cell who is now trying to get 18, his wonderful father kicks him in the side causing him to fall to the ground. They exchange words, and Trunks ends up blasting his father. Then Cell raises his hands to his eyes ones again and shouts, "Taiyouken!" While everyone is blinded he turns his tail into a vacuum and absorbs No. 18.

Trunks tries to eliminate Cell while he is transforming, but the power boost causes a barrier of ki around him that Trunks can't penetrate. Finally there is an explosion and Cell reveals himself in his true form. At the same time, Gohan is just now getting his hair to spark with golden color in the Room of Spirit and Time with his father. Finally Gohan reaches Super Saiyan, but as he releases his excitement so that he can use it to his advantage, he loses it. His father gives him words of encouragement and decides it's time for Gohan to get a haircut. Krillin, meanwhile, goes postal on Cell for absorbing his "girlfriend" and starts throwing everything he has at him. Cell ignores him and doesn't even touch him. Finally Cell can't take that "annoying fly" anymore and kicks him in the neck, breaking it.

While Krillin lies there paralyzed, Trunks comes to the rescue with a Senzu. Vegeta goes up to Cell and tells him that his new form isn't very impressive for a "Perfect" form. Cell apologizes on Vegeta's behalf and asks him to warm up with him. Vegeta boasts that he will kill him during the warm-up. Krillin tells Trunks that Cell will kill Vegeta. The ki that they are feeling now is just a ruse, his real power is unbearable. Then Krillin reveals that Trunks is holding back a power that Vegeta doesn't know about. That he has surpassed a limit that Vegeta doesn't even know about. Vegeta goes at Cell with some punches, but Cell blocks them all easily. Even though they are just playing around, Vegeta takes it to heart that Cell isn't even trying, but he is still dominating Vegeta. Vegeta can't handle it any longer and tells him to fight as hard as he can. Cell says, "Ok, but only a little." He appears behind Vegeta, but Vegeta makes the first move. He kicks him with his hardest right on the neck. Cell just smiles.

Vegeta is scared now. He knows he is powerless. Cell kicks him so fast that you can't even see it. Vegeta crashes into a mountain, but Trunks still won't help his father. Not until Vegeta gets knocked-out. Vegeta gets up and tells Cell to take this next attack head on. Cell agrees, and Vegeta lets out the most powerful Final Flash we've seen so far. Cell realizes what's happening at the last moment and moves. When the dust settles, Cell is only half a man.

Cell then becomes a big Drama Queen making a big fuss about how he's lost. Everyone is laughing at him, when he smiles and calls them fools. He then regenerates almost half of his body, to become a full person again! Everyone is shocked, and Vegeta lets Cell have everything he can dish out. It's no use, Cell appears right in front of him and smacks him in the face. When Vegeta gets back up, there is a dent in his face from the hit. The punch crushed his skull! Cell then kicks him into the air. Before Vegeta begins falling to the ground, Cell flies above him and breaks his back. Vegeta lands on the ground, drops Super Saiyan, and appears dead. Trunks immediately takes the initiative and turns into the "Super Super Saiyan" or what is commonly known as "Super Saiyan 2," a form that Vegeta couldn't even reach. (Note: Before when I said that Vegeta reached SSJ2 was only for dramatic effect. Much like when Funimation kept calling he and Goku Super Saiyans when they obviously weren't.)

Trunks's pupils disappear, and his hair grows a noticeable length. Just before Cell sends Vegeta into "another dimension" he notices this new power. Trunks tells Krillin to take Vegeta back to Master Roshi's and give him a Senzu when the time became right. He then says that he will kill Cell. As the battle begins, it appears as if Trunks has the upper hand, until he slows down and starts getting hit by Cell. Cell is definitely quicker than Trunks, but once Vegeta is taken to safety, he is ready to fight at full power.

Trunks powers up and says, "I'm going to show you my full strength!" Cell agrees that his strength will be too much for him. He even tells him that he is more powerful than him. But then he tells him that he will still lose. The fight starts with Trunks charging Cell. In another dimension, Gohan is now training hard as a Super Saiyan. He sees his father sitting on the floor and points out that it must be incredibly difficult to surpass Super Saiyan. Gohan lands, drops Super Saiyan, and starts gasping for air. He looks up and sees his father standing too. He turns Super Saiyan, but continues to get more powerful. He gets angry and starts to bulk up. Gohan runs up to him and starts saying, "Dad, that's great! You passes Super Saiyan!" Goku just stares at him and says, "I think I can advance it a bit further to the transformation that I need," and his muscles double in size. He starts shouting and his hair grows long. He looks much like Trunks. He turns to Gohan and says, "I don't think I can beat Cell yet... I can't... With these augmented muscles, even though I'm stronger, I'm also slower." At this point he drops Super Saiyan 2. "No matter how strong I am, if I can't hit him, it's useless, right? Besides, I'd waste too much energy. A regular Super Saiyan has a better balance between speed and strength. This I already understand. From now on, all the time, except while we sleep, we'll be Super Saiyan and we'll get used to it until it constitutes our normal state. I'll start with trying to eliminate the nervousness we feel when we're in a Super Saiyan state. Then we'll start with the most basic training. It may seem like a waste of time, but I think it's for the best." Back at the fight, Trunks is really going all out. He's giving everything he's got, but he continues to miss. He's really having a hard time. Cell makes a remark, "You're just an amateur. I didn't think you were so ignorant. Saying you were going to show me all the strength you had, you just changed into a form that gives you more brute force. A change like that is quiet easy to attain..." At this, Cell powers up and his muscles grow to the size of Trunks's.

With Cell all bulked up he says, "You won't get much out of this transformation. You're a fool!" and goes back to his normal state. Then a revelation is revealed to Trunks. He realizes that his dad didn't change into this form, not because he couldn't, but because he knew it was useless. He drops Super Saiyan and says, "I've lost my will to fight. Kill me." At this point, Krillin is shown going crazy at how powerful Cell is. The disappearing of Trunks's ki didn't help much either. He force feeds Vegeta a Senzu. Before Cell destroys Trunks, he asks him how he and Vegeta powered up so greatly in such a short time. Trunks ignores him, so he says, "Ok, I'll change the question. If you had more time, could you get even stronger? What is Goku doing?" Trunks responds by saying that Goku is training to defeat him, and will tomorrow. Now Cell is interested and says, "Let's have a Martial Arts Competition. It will be held in ten days. I'm doing you a favor, get stronger and entertain me. There's a competition called the Tenkaichi Boudakai. I want to remake it. However, I'll be the only opponent. We'll fight one on one, and if I win, I'll fight the next person. I don't care how many of you there are. Gather as much as you can, and you may just win through sheer numbers. I'll let you know the place soon. Maybe I'll do it through a TV. broadcast. Looks like I won't be bored anymore. You'd better bring lots of Senzu. I'm doing this to test my strength and terrorize people. It will help to build up my power too. I don't have an ultimate goal, nor am I interested in conquest. There's no point to killing Goku, though, that's why I was made. Perhaps my goal is, then, to enjoy myself. First of all, of course, is to see the fear on people's faces. Like yours." As Cell flies off, Krillin arrives with the newly healed Vegeta. Trunks tells them of the news, and Vegeta boasts that he'll only need one day in the Room to be able to easily handle Cell. Before they leave they hear a voice. "Take me to Capsule Corp. and repair me. Take me too. I want to go too." It's No. 16! Krillin agrees, much to Vegeta and Trunks's dismay, and carries him all the way to Capsule Corp. The next day, a broadcast was heard that sent the entire world into panic...
