Sailor Neptune's earth identity Michelle or Kaioh Michiru in Japanese. She is the Sailor
Senshi of all oceans and seas, Sailor Neptune is the Princess of her home planet,
Neptune. Unlike Amara(her closest companion), Michelle is quiet, calm, and an
academically gifted student (not to say that Amara is bad in school, though). Many people
(mainly the sailor scouts)look to her for advice and tips on what to do in certain
situations. She is ultimately skilled in all areas of the Arts (instrumental, painting,
sculpting, etc.). Her dream is to become an accomplished, well-respected female in the
area of Arts whose talents bring joy and happiness to the lives of others, whether it be
through music, sculptures, and/or paintings. When Michelle is in her Senshi form, Sailor
Neptune, she works alongside her partner (and closest friend and confidant), Sailor
Uranus, on a variety of important and difficult missions. Sailor Neptune takes what she
does seriously enough, but not to the extent that Sailor Uranus takes it .
The first time any of the Inner Senshi sees Sailor Neptune is during their first battle
with a Death Buster Heart Snatcher, Mikousi. It isn't long after that battle that Serena
and Mina meet 2 people in the arcade of the Crown Game Center by the names of Amara and
Michelle. Serena and Mina stand in complete "awe" of Michelle's and Amara's "perfect"
looks, personalities, and auras and the way they present themselves and act all-around.
Soon after that, Michelle and Amara made friends with Raye, Lita, and Amy in addition to
Serena and Mina, and all the while, the Inners didn't know that Michelle and Amara were
Sailors Neptune and Uranus. It isn't until ALL of the Senshi battle against Eudial, a
Witches 5 and Death Buster agent, in a warehouse that the Inner Senshi find out who Amara
and Michelle really are and vice-versa, by morphing in front of each other.
Sailor Neptune's first mission as an Outer Sailor Senshi was to protect and defend Queen
Serentiy's Moon Kingdom from any evil threats along with Sailors Uranus, Pluto, and
Saturn during the Silver Millenium. In SMS, Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus have a
different mission: to find the 3 Talismans that create the Holy Grail, which was needed
to summon the Messiah to banish Earth's "silencer", Master Pharaoh 90. As I have said
before in my Sailor Uranus page, Sailor Uranus was found out to be a Talisman carrier.
But, before that, it is found out that Sailor Neptune herself is a Talisman carrier and
that her Talisman is the Deep Aqua Mirror. All of this is found out during the Senshi
battle against Eudial at the Marine Cathedral. Eudial steals the 2 Talismans from within
Neptune's and Uranus' Pure Heart Crystals and proceeds to run away back to HQ, but she is
stopped by Sailor Moon, the other Inner Senshi, and a woman at the time who was only
known as Trista Setsuna. Trista calls for Eudial to give up the Talismans and then morphs
into Sailor Pluto. Anyway, to make a long story short, Sailor Pluto is able to unite the
powers of the Space Sword and the Deep Aqua Mirror with the powers of HER Talisman, her
Garnet Orb, and create the Holy Grail. Eudial then tries to intercept it, but Sailor Moon
is able to get to it first and transform into Super Sailor Moon. Sailors Neptune and
Uranus see this having been brought back to life by having their Pure Heart Crystals
returned to them and think that Sailor Moon could be the Messiah that they've been
searching for! To their disappointment, they see that Sailor Moon becomes very weak after
using the Holy Grail and Neptune and Uranus come to the conclusion that Sailor Moon isn't
the Messiah that they were looking for after all. That "revelation" sets Neptune and
Uranus up on their next mission: to stop the Death Busters from gaining the Heart Crystal
needed to manifest their Chimmoku no Messiah aka Mistress 9 needed to guide Master
Pharaoh 90 to Earth and "silence" it. (It is at the end of the SMS series that ALL of the
Senshi learn to work together as a group, all the way up through SMSS/ Sailor Stars.
As I have mentioned in my Sailor Uranus page, Michelle has a very strong and close
relationship with Amara. In the SM anime, they are cousins. In the SM manga, they are
lovers. Even though the "lovers and cousins" concept kind of throws off the 2 versions
and makes them that much more different than they already are, it is still a known fact
that Michelle and Amara deeply love each other and would risk their lives for each other.
