Sailor Mars earth name is Raye or Hino Rei in Japanese. Raye is the Sailor Senshi of fire
and devination, Sailor Mars is the Princess of Mars, her home planet. She is very
outspoken, storng-willed, and ambitious. She is also very opinionated. Raye's hot temper
and aggressiveness start fights faster than sunlight can reach the Earth! She is able to
turn all of that around and use it to her advantage, though. As the Sailor Senshi, Sailor
Mars, her firey offense and mastery of Shinto practices and ESP prove to be a devistating
combo to the various forces of evil.
Raye lives with her grandfather and a bum explained to be an ex-rock star named Chad at
the Hikawa Jinja Shrine (Cherry Hill Temple). Chad had stumbled upon the Cherry Hill
Temple while wondering around aimlessly in a nearby forest. Aother story is that Chad
used to be a rock star, but he contracted stage fright. And he came to the Temple to get
over his "phobia". Anyway, Chad does odd jobs around the Temple, while having a mad love
for Raye despite her harsh "exterior" to love.
Raye is discovered to be Sailor Mars the 3rd Senshi in the 1st season of Sailormoon when
reports begin to circulate about the disappearances of transportation busses from the
Cherry Hill Temple and everyone blames Raye and her grandfather for it! When Serena, Amy,
and Luna decide to check things out for themselves, Raye "wigs out" at a lady who
continuously accuses Raye of having something to do with the busses disapperaing. Even
when Serena tries to ask Raye an innocent question, Raye gets on the defensive
immediately. Luna senses that Raye holds a great promise within her and a transformation
brooch for the Sailor Senshi, Sailor Mars, is left behind. To make things short, when a
NegaVerse/Dark Kingdom general named Jedite lets his monster fight Sailor Moon and Raye,
Raye was told by Luna to cry out her morphing phrase and use her Senshi powers to
exterminate the monster. All ends up being well and in that episode, Jedite returns to
Queen Beryl empty-handed.
 No conflict in the whole SM series is as widely known as the "conflict" between Serena
and Raye. Their arguing most often leads to the embarrassment of their friends and
laughter of the viewers and fans of SM. It all started in the 1st series, when Sailor
Mars thought Sailor Moon was too much of an idiot and cry-baby to be a Sailor Senshi.
Eventually, as the series goes on, Raye pokes fun at Serena every imaginable chance she
gets and on a wide variety of topics!. If Serena ate too much, Raye would say that
Serena's getting fatter. If Sailor Moon screws up a battle, Mars will call it as is over,
and over, and OVER again!. However, when push comes to shove, you know Raye couldn't be a
better friend to Serena. They almost have a type of "sister-to-sister" relationship. As
with the other Senshi Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus, Mars is more than prepared to
sacrifice herself, if it means a better outcome for all of those involved.
Raye's tough exterior is only a cover for the feeling of tenderness and love Raye hides
inside for the fear of being labeled "vulnerable", or "easy". She is the perfect person
to keep Serena in "check" and "on her toes". Raye's strong ambitions can power any wish,
or dream she may have into reality.
