| The following is a list of what I consider to be some of the best Renaissance Faires in Southern Califorinia (and elsewhere). I've also included some links that you can checkout for Faire schedules and other info. OJAI RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL - Ojai, Ca 10/16&10/17 Both the name and the dates keep on changing for this event, so just remember that it's the ONLY faire in the Ojai area. This year the promoters went back to the twice a year format (spring & autumn), which is nice because it was being held once a year in July, probably the hottest month of the year in this area. The merchants are always changing at this faire, so it's always a little different. The number of food vendors has dropped considerably, though, so there's not a whole lot to choose from in that respect. The setting is perfect: along the shore of beautiflul Lake Casitas, at the part of the park known as the "Event Area" (originally built for the rowing & canoeing competitions of the 1984 Olympic Games).
