| What is Goju? |
=> CSK provides its members with seminars and training materials that help strengthen their skills and understanding of Karate and other related subjects. In addition, CSK holds occasional workshops and seminars with guest speakers from various Martial Arts styles and the health and fitness field. We provide training in U.S.A. Goju-Ryu karate. The training includes exercises and drills to develop strength, endurance, flexability, speed, and cardiovascular control. Besides learning physical techniques, Goju also developes mental attitudes such as improved concentration and self discipline. There is also an emphasis placed on safety, co-operation and mutual respect. All of our members practice together and do not try to out do one another. All members who proceed a new student are responsible for his/her safety, instruction, and well being. This fosters a class atmosphere free of anxiety and competition.
=> Goju Karate means "hard and soft way of the empty hand". It was developed to be versatile and adaptable to any self-defense situation. It contains a variety of techniques ranging from powerful punches and kicks to more subtle blocking and evading techniques. The creation of this style went beyond the physical skills of a person to incorporate the features necessary to develop self-confidence, increase patience and build character. Geared specifically toward street-wise situations, Goju Karate will teach you how to react in any given situation with total control and awareness. It will not only get you in shape physically, it will develop you mentally, psychologically and spiritually.
=> CSK is owned and run by Sensei Michael Cucciniello, who has been training in the Martial Arts for over 20 years, while also learning bits and pieces of various other styles. By incorparating all these other forms (Hapkido, Kung Fu, Judo, etc...) into the Goju teachings, the students become more versatile and well rounded overall. Currently holding the rank of Renshi, fifth degree black belt, Sensei Mike has also been a volunteer Firefighter for the past eight years and is CPR certified.
