| [Scene 6: School Gym] (STUDENTS are on the floor stretching, KIMBERLEY smiles at ANGELINA, ANGELINA smiles back, KIMBERLEY sees JAYCI glaring at her, hurriedly looks away) MISS FANTER: All right, people! I don’t want no half-hearted stretches! You warm up with every sap of energy you’ve got left in your puny little bodies! (blows whistle) (STUDENTS stop stretching, all look at MISS FANTER expectantly) MISS FANTER: All right! Now give me 5 rounds around the gym! (STUDENTS groan/sigh/moan/utter words of disgust) MISS FANTER: All right, then we'll make it 6 rounds! 7 rounds! 8 rounds!... (STUDENTS hurriedly stand up, start running) KIMBERLEY: (getting up) Oh boy, this is sure gonna work up an appetite later. ANGELINA: Yeah. I just hope the lunchroom isn’t serving any old crap this time round! (KIMBERLEY & ANGELINA giggle/laugh, JAYCI rolls her eyes, all running) JAYCI: (mumbles) They might not be serving any old crap, but I’m sure hearing a lot of it around here. ANGELINA: (didn’t hear JAYCI) What? JAYCI: (moody look) Nothing. ANGELINA: (turns to KIMBERLEY) So, you wanna join us for lunch later? KIMBERLEY: (hesitantly) Well... I don’t know. I wouldn’t wanna intrude on you guys. JAYCI: You heard the girl. She doesn’t wanna intrude. ANGELINA: Nonsense! You’re not intruding! We wouldn’t mind, right, Jayci? JAYCI: (forced) Right. ANGELINA: See? C’mon, it’ll be fun! KIMBERLEY: Well... (smiles) all right. Thanks, Angelina. ANGELINA: No thanks necessary. KIMBERLEY: Thanks, Jayci. JAYCI: Yeah, whatever. (looks away) KIMBERLEY: (silently breathes a hushed sigh of relief, smiles at ANGELINA) |
