It's that time of the year when boyfriends start taking off for college creating a newfound long distance relationhip for many couples. A long distance relationhip existing merely for the fact that the couple just might actually make it beyond college years. How many of these couples actually make it beyond their college years? Who knows? But it ain't all that likely that they will make it.
So the recent trend calls for the summer fling. A fling that exists merely as a time filler for when the fun really starts.....
College.
The fling calls for a breakup in the final moments before the guy takes his leave for the promised land, leaving the girl in the dust, counting her tears. The guy ends the relationship no matter how great things are going, not making the slightest effort to contain himself in a land of beer and sorority sluts.
As of late, there have been many cases of this occuring.
And it really needs to stop.
Sure, you can make a case for the guys wanting to end it.
"Oh, it wouldn't have lasted anyway," is the main case. Sometimes its valid, but not often. Not when no effort whatsoever is made to hold on to the relationship.
Guys being the simple-minded assholes that they are don't have the slightest clue what this does to women. Many a rampage have been documented in the after hours of such a dumping. Most women don't recover. The female thinking changes vastly after such an event. For example: there really isn't a reason for women to ever want to look at a man ever again. Especially if it was a pretty great guy that did such a horrible thing.
That's an absolute kick in the ass for the half decent guys in the world. All of a sudden even the nicest of guys can bring doubt into the mind of a woman.
"Gosh supposedly this guy was a 'nice' guy! What the fuck is a nice guy anyway?!"
Now the nice guys get shut out as well. There is no distinguishing between a "nice guy" and an "asshole guy". There is only a plain old "guy".
Which cuts things down to their bear essentials.
Guys are assholes.
No simpler premise has ever been devised in the mind of a woman up until the point she gets shunt in favor of beer and sorority sluts. I've always said that guys were assholes, and the last week or so here in mid August of 2001 have proven that statemen true a million fold. Even the so-called "nice guys" can't be trusted with the heart and soul of a woman. Beer and sorority sluts in college or puppy dogs and ice cream in a long distance relationship. The core of "nice guys" seem to have gone the beer and sluts route, and that is really quite unfortunate. Why should the girl have to pay in tears and regret all for a lack of containment and optimism in the guy? Just cuz the guy has no faith in himself and in the relationship? That's crap. No need to use a girl to fling around with just cuz you're are feeling all crapped out about being held down and back by the relationship. Don't get into the relationship in the first place, asshole. You're just ruining it for other nice guys and god help her, the girl involved.
So I offer some remedies for this recent trend and how to avoid tears and regret.
First of all, if one or both people in the relationship are seniors, know if the relationship is a fling or something serious. What's been happening is the guy has been thinking fling while the girl has been thinking serious, and it's a damn shame. Girls, find out if the guy just wants a fling and act accordingly. Maybe you don't mind a fling. But if you do mind a fling, brace yourself come mid-august. He may say he's in it for the long haul, but remember, guys are assholes. Brace yourself.
Second of all, a piece of advice for non-senior girls. Think intelligently. A guy at that time of his life can be a user and abuser to you youngsters. It's that stupid sense of power that they've got for some reason. Mostly cuz despite what they say, they think of you as immature most of the time. That makes you most suspect to the dreaded summer senior fling.
Knowing what kind of situation you're in is most important, and having lots of pessimism doesn't hurt either. Afterall, you're dealing with guys here, and guys are assholes.
Bottom line, the male gender gets a big fat fucking thumbs down for their actions as of late. No girl deserves to have their heart flushed down the shitter for beer and sorority sluts. It's abolutely horrible. Start using your damn heads, guys. And stop spitting in the faces of real nice guys by claiming you're a nice guy yourself.
Cuz in the end, you're just like the rest of them: a plain old-fashioned, asshole, guy.
