Throughout Audrey's life she has been devoted to helping people. She has always been giving money to charities and helping run fundraisers. This year in May she had a care center hospital named after her.
In 1988 Audrey Hepburn decided to join UNICEFS team, she became the international International Goodwill Ambassador. She once said "Iv'e known UNICEF a long time, ever since the second world war when they came to aid thousands of children, UNICEF is about helping people to help themselves, giving them aid to develop and thereby allowing them to become self reliant". Those words showed me how much she really cares.
Audrey made over fifty field research visits to UNICEF and went to Sudan, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Thailand, Ethiopia, Sudan, Eritrea, and Somalia to do projects. The Audrey Hepburn Memorial Fund at UNICEF has raised over $1 million dollars for educational programs in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Sudan and Somalia.
