Roles of Women
During the Civil War women would encouraged all of the males in their family to go to war, although the women knew that they would be held accountable for managing the farms, plantations, and households. Women worked as maids, laundresses, stream stressed, and boarding house keeper. Some women worked as nurses to help the wounded and sick during the war. Women worked jobs that only men were suppose to do to earn so money to support the families. Some women dressed up in men clothes so they could fight in the war. Others were spies who crossed the border bringing the troops information, guns, medicine, and other supplies that were needed at the time. Women had an easy time at crossing the border because women were hardly ever stopped.

Women supported the soldiers by throwing fairs, concerts, raffles, dances to raise money for the troops so they could get more supplies that they needed. Women became a big part on the world. They voiced Political opinions, they supported the nation, they traveled with the soldiers, and they cooked and brought them food. The women did all of this to have a wealthier army.
