Pokemon Game Guide for Playing Pokemon Silver & Gold Version
When you entered your name and the time in the beginning, you'll be in your room. You start off in New Bark Town. Go downstairs and your mom will approach you. She will ask you what day is it , answer her. She will give you the pokegear and tell you that Pro. Elm wants you to go to his lab. Exit your house and walk left and you will see Elm's lab.
Enter the lab and walk to Elm. He will tell you to go to Mr. Pokemon's house to help him get the Mystery Egg. Elm will also give you a Pokemon. You could choose from: Chicorita-a grass type, Totodile-a water type, or Cyndaquil-a fire type. I suggest you start out with Totodile because it is very strong. After you choose Pokemon, Elm will give you his phone no. You could call him anytime in cell phone.
Exit Elm's lab and walk farther left. You'll notice a red haired boy, your rival, peeking in Elm's lab through a window. If you try to talk to him, he'll push you away. Ignore him and walk into the grassy area. You'll encounter many Pokemon here. Since you can't catch Pokemon yet, you might as well train your first Pokemon.
Get through Route 29, you'll get to Cherrygrove City. There will be an old man standing near the Pokemon Center. Talk to him and he'll give you a tour around Cherrygrove City. After he leads you to his house, he'll give you the Map. You could view the Map in your pokegear. There is nothing much to do here so you should head north the grassy areas.
Around Route 30, you will find two people locked up in a tough Pokemon match. The problem is that they are blocking the way. Ignore them and head north. You will then find Mr. Pokemon's house. He'll give you the Mystery Egg. Then Pro. Oak will talk to you and give you a Pokedex and exit. Mr. Pokemon will also heal your Pokemon.
Once you exit, Elm will call you and tell you that something horrible has happened and come back quickly. Rush to New Bark quickly, but you'll run into the boy who peeked at Elm's lab. He has stolen a Pokemon from Elm. You will battle him When you win he will flee away. You should have no trouble getting back to Elm.
When you get there, a officer will ask you if you have seen the theif. Enter his name and talk to Elm. He will be surprised at the Mystery Egg and will take it. Elm's aid will also give you 5 Pokeballs to catch Pokemon.
Now go back to where to people was once battling and they will battle you. Then go to Violet City. There is a Pokemon Gym here. This gym uses fying type Pokemon. I don't think you'll need help on this gym. Enter it and battle the trainers in there. Then go up to Leader Falkner and battle him. He is very easy because he has a lv.7 Pidgey, and a lv.9 Pidgeyotto. If you win, you'll be awarded the Zepyr Badge.
Elm will call you and will tell you to go to the Pokemon Center. Do it. You'll find Elm's aid near Joy's counter. Talk to him and he'll give you back the Mystery Egg. Yippie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After beating the Violet Gym, you should head on to the Sprout Tower. Make your way to the top floor by battling the monks in the way. You'll find your rival defeating the head monk. He then escapes with escape rope. Confront the head monk and battle him. If you defeat him, he'll give you HM 5. The HM contains Flash. With Flash, you could light up caves. Dark Cave is a good place. to explore. Now exit the tower. As you head on to Ruins of Alph, go west and you'll hit a weird dancin' tree. Funny isn't it!!!! You can't do anything with it now.........
Head south of Violet, you'll find yourself in the Ruins of Alph. Go into the northeast cave and inspect the panel. It has a puzzle of a Kabuto. Fit the corner pieces first and then solve it. If you solve the puzzle correctly, a pit will form below you and you'll fall in. There are weird Pokemon species here that are called Unknown. They are symbols that have 26 different shapes. Their Pokedex entry is the same. Once you've explored enough, you should get out of the Ruins of Alph.
Head south to Route 30. Talk to the guy in the beginning of Route 30 to get a Miracle Seed. There are other trainers out there.
Make your way to Route 31. There will be a guy that will sell a Slowpoke Tail for $100,000,000!!! Could you believe it!!!! There is also a Pokemon Center here. You should heal your Pokemon here. Also, in the Pokemon Center, there is a fisherman that will give you a Old Rod.
Union Cave is nearby. Enter it. It is rumored that you could find a Lapras here. Well, don't bother with that yet..... There are trainers here. It's not that bad because it is a one way path to exit the cave.
When you exit Union Cave, you'll be at Route 33. There is nothing to do here except to battle two trainers. Go west to Azalea Town. On the way, you'll notice a well guarded by a Rocket member. That is Slowpoke Well.
You couldn't go to Azalea Gym yet because the town has been taken over by Team Rocket. Go to Kurt's house. Kurt is a famous Pokeball craftsman. He'll say that Team Rocket as stolen Slowpokes and cut off their tails to sell. Team Rocket is doing this at Slowpoke Well. Kurt will rush to the well and scream at the guard who once stood in front of the well.
Now enter. Your goal now is to defeat all of the Rocket members and return all the Slowpoke back. Once you've done that, you'll be able to fight Azalea Gym leader. You could also find apricorns for Kurt so he'll make different kinds of Pokeballs with them.
Go back to Azalea Town and enter the gym. Get to Leader Bugsy to battle him. Bugsy has a Metapod, Kakuna, and a Sycther. He is tough. Flying or fire Pokemon should do the trick. Once you've beaten him, he'll give you the Hive Badge! Your egg should be hatching by now.... If it did, you'll get a Togepi. Elm would want to see it. If you go back to his lab, he'll give you a EVERSTONE
Now go west to exit the town. But you'll be spotted by your rival and you will battle him. When you have beaten him, enter Ilex Forest. There will be this boy who lost his Farfetched that belonged to his boss. There will also be a tree up ahead of the boy. Don't focuse on that yet, just find the Farfetched. Sooner or later, you'll find the Farfetched. It will run from you. Follow it. As you follow it, Farfetched will lead you to the boy who lost the Farfetched. There will also be the boss of the boy. Talk to him. He will give you HM 1! That contains Cut. Teach it to one of your Pokemon. Then go to the tree north of the boss and the boy. Cut it away. Continue along the way. You could also talk to this well hiddened green-haired kid so he'll give you TM 12. TM 12 contains Headbutt, so you could headbutt trees and Pokemon will come out. You'll be out of Ilex Forest in no time.
You'll be at Route 34, there will be trainers that will fight you. There is also a Pokemon Day-Care in this place where you could leave your Pokemon in there to train it. You could also breed to different genders of Pokemon here. Breeding is really fun!!! You could get one of the baby Pokemons! Head north and you'll be in Goldenrod City. There is a lot of things to do here.
First of all, you should go to the Goldenrod Gym. There are a lot of trainers here. Get to Leader Whittney to battle her. She is really strong and also sensitive. She has a Clefairy and a Miltank. Use a rock-type Pokemon to beat her. If you beat her, she won't give you a badge yet, she will start crying.... Go talk to the trainer below her. Now talk to Whittney and she will give you the Plain Badge.
Go go the Radio Tower and talk to the lady at the far right of the counter and answer them correctly. If you got the questions all right, she will give a Radio. You can now listen to Radio programs in Johto. On Sundays, to can get TM 27 in the top floor of the Department Store. In the Underground Path, there are these 2 bros. that give haircuts to our Pokemon. Also, on the left right side of the Department Store, there is also a Bike Shop where you could get a bike for free. It is because the Bike Shop doesn't have any business and asks you to have a bike to advertise their products. Now you could ride a bike! Go into the northeast house which is a greenhouse and retreive the SQUIRTBOTTLE. You'll need that later
Now ride on north to the passageway where it seperates Goldenrod and Route 35. Talk to the Officer behind the counter. He'll ask you to send a letter to his friend. If you say "yes" he'll give you a mail attached with a Spearow. Enter Route 35. There are a lot of trainers here.
Make your way into a place called National Park. You'll be in another passageway. There will also be an officer standing somewhere. If he is standing at the rear door, you're lucky. Now you can play the Bug-Catching-Contest! When you talk to him he will ask you if you want to join the Contest. If you say yes, you'll have to leave 5 of your Pokemon back and he'll give you 20 Park Balls. Note: You get your Pokemon back when you finish the contest. You play the contest by trying to catch the strongest Pokemon you can find in the park in 20 minutes. The contest is over when you run out of time or Park Balls. I suggest you capture a Scyther here. You could catch as much Pokemon as you want, but you'll only get the last one you caught. Leave at the east building. There will be a bunch of people here listening to a dude that is announcing the winners of the contest. If you placed third place, you'll receive an apricot or something. If you place second place, you'll receive an Everstone. If you place first place, you'll get a Sun Stone.
Now go on to Route 36. There will be two trainers here. Keep going and you'll find the dancin' tree again! This time use a SQUIRTBOTTLE on it. It will atart shaking and will attack you. It's Sudowoodo, the tree Pokemon. I suggest you capture it since there is only one of them. Now go west and talk to the first fat guy you meet in a blue outfit. He'll give TM 12 which is ROCK SMASH. Teach it to Sudowoodo and now you could smash out rocks in your way! Go back to Violet city. Nearby is a dude that will take the Spearow with the letter. He will give you TM 50 in return.
Head on north to Route 37. There will be more trainers here. There is nothing to do here. Head on north to Ecruteak City.
Go into the Ecruteak Gym. There will be an invisible floor path to get to Leader Morty. He'll have a Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, and Haunter. If you beat him, he'll give you a Fog Badge! If you go to the house next to the gym, a guy in there will give you an ITEMFINDER. Now heal your Pokemon at the Pokemon Center.
Once you enter, Bill will come downstairs and greet you. Now you could go back to Goldenrod to Bill's house and he will give you an Evee for free! Anyways, go to the house northeast of the Center. Here is a auditorium where you have to fight the Kimo Dancers here. If you beat all of them, go to the tidy guy that is watching. He'll give you HM 3 which is Surf. Teach it to someone.
Now go to the Burned Tower, which is northeast of Ecruteak. Next to it is the Tin Tower, you can't go there yet. Enter Burned Tower. Your rival will be there to battle you. There will be trainers and rocks to smash down. You'll have to get underground where the Legendary Beasts are.... If you find them on the platform, they will flee right before your eyes! Now you could encounter in the wild. There location is no specific area. They move randomly. Now exit and start on Route 38.
There will be more trainers here. Boring.......... Go on to Route 39. There will be a Miltank Farm here. There is also a sick Miltank and needs yourcare. If you feed it lots of berries, a guy will give you some Moo Moo Milk.
Go south and you're in Olivine City. Your rival will come out of the gym saying that it's deserted. He will leave. Now go to the lighthouse which is southeast of Olivine.
Now once in here, you will have to make your way to the top floor by fighting off trainers. When you get on the top floor, Jasmine, the Olivine Leader is here. She is accompanying a sick Pokemon. She will ask you to go to Cianwood City to fetch her the Secret Medicine. Do as she says. Before you go, thereis a fisherman's house north of the Pokemon Center that will give you a Good Rod. Also, west of the Center is another house where a fisherman gives you HM 4, Strength.
Now surf down Route 40. Here are some trainers. You'll also notice some islands which are blocked by whirpools. It's called the Whirl Islands. Anyways, get to Cianwood City.
Once you're there, go into the gym! Leader Chuck uses fighting Pokemon! His strongest Pokemon is Poliwrath. If you beat him, he'll give you a Sand Storm Badge! Now go south of the gym, a lady will give you HM 2, Fly! Teach it to a Pokemon. Go south of the Pokemon Center and go into the house. That's where you get the mdicine for Jasmine. Somewhere in Cianwood, a person will let you keep his Shuckle for a while. Now, fly back to Olivine.
Go back into the Lighthouse to where Jasmine is and give her the medicine. She will use it on the sick Pokemon and return to her gym. Go to her gym and battle. She is really tough. She uses Steel type Pokemon. Her lineup is 2 Magnemites, and a Steelix. Once victorious, she'll award you with a Mineral Badge!
Now head back to Ecruteak City. This time, go east and there will be Mt. Mortar. You don't have to go in. Just surf beside it. Once you get on land, there will be trainers.
You'll get to Mahogany Town. You can't go into the gym yet. Now go to Route 43. FGo north and explore the Lake of Rage. You have to fight these trainers. You'll then be at a huge lake! In the middle of the lake is a Shiny Red Gyrados! I suggest you capture it because it is rare. Once you kill it or capture it, you'll get a RED SCALE. Step out of the lake and Lance, the Dragon Master will be nearby. Talk to him and he'll teleport somewhere.
Now go to the Mahogany Store and Lance will push aside a dude and the storekeeper. He will lead you to a secret trapdoor! Go in . It turns out that Team Rocket has taken over this place. Now you and Lance will team up but go seperate ways to destroy this Team Rocket Base. Everytime you walk up to a Persian statue, 2 Rockets will fight you. Once you'll turned off the security camera switch, Rockets won't botheryou.
Go downstairs and you'll meet up with Lance. He'll tell you to find 2 passwords that will open tthe gate in front of you. A red-haired girl that is on a computer has one of them. The other one is with the guy near 2 Pokeballs.
Go downstairs and Lance will heal your Pokemon. Fight off the Rockets and go into the Executive's room. Beat him and he'll flee! Go to the Murkrow beside the computer and it'll give you the last password. Now go back to the gate where you need the passwords and open it. 2 Rocket executives will stop you! Then, Lance comes to your aid! Now you two will battle them!!! You battle the girl.
When you're done, Lance will say that you'll need to get rid of the 6 Electrodes that are generating this place. Lance will take care of one side and you'll take care of one side. When you're done, Lance will thank you and give you HM 6, Whirlpool!!! Teach it to someone.

Now fly to Goldenrod. Rockets will be all over the place. Go into the Radio Tower. Many Rockets will battle you. You'll have to find the Director of the Tower. On the 3rd floor, you'll notice a place where it is locked up. Make your way to the top floor. There will be a Rocket pretending to be the Director. Go to the tunnel and unlock the door. As you go downstairs, your rival will meet you and battle. Now there will be 3 Rockets guarding 3 switches you'll have to do to get to the female Rocket. It took me 3 hours to figure that puzzle.
